Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

So where did 284.74 come from on Jan 30th? I can't find anything higher than 283.29.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

Look at the hourly. Highest trade is 283.29. Why would the daily show something higher? EDIT: I reported this to NYSE a couple weeks ago. If it was an error, why didn't they fix it?

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

Gap (hourly) No gap (daily) So, they copy the Close from yesterday and print it on the Open? That's fraud.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

I agree, that is true. Apparently, the 1930 one took 21 years.

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

This is a gap down. According to Peter Brandt, we haven't had a gap down like this since 1930. https://www.peterlbrandt.com/the-history-of-unfilled-gaps-in-the-u-s-stock-indexes/

Why does SPY hourly show a gap, but not daily on Jan 30, 2018?

The error is at the source. It shows on TradingView and Yahoo (and others). I reported it to NYSE a couple weeks ago. No response.

    Forever up stock - BA

Month after month of consistent returns. Not every month is 20+%, but provides nice stable returns; almost as good as a dividend. Each month BA's value increases on a compounding basis. All its holdings, land and everything. Each employee's productivity is also compounded monthly. How...

Boeing has delivered year after year. BA is sitting below 360 on very clear flag formation, poised for breakout into new 'forever highs'.

HD & WMT are concerning to the whole market. CAT & BA are unsustainable.

What is the symbol for Brazilian nation bond?

Could US' debt rise to 10-15%, while retaining principal value? Ie. is interest the ONLY factor in bond prices?

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Options expired on Saturday. I think smart players failed to do their normal rollovers and let their options expire while unloading their 'delta positive' trades. Market machinations won't work and other players will push the buttons harder, seeing some, but not enough movement. Look out below.

S&P strategy for last 10 years: Short the underlying. Long the option. Rebalance on Fed days. I think some credit lines have been cut off though.

    Market disconnect: ES & SPY

SPY/SPX's much lower low: ES: Reminder to those unaware: SPY and ES are calculated and managed very differently. SPY is a closer approximation of the 500 stocks in S&P's list (or at least it's supposed to be).

Start of a bear market - DJIA January 2018

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/DIA/DLx9RBWR-Start-of-a-bear-market-DJIA-January-2018/ Using DIA for analysis, because YM is too open to low-volume manipulation. We have a spectacular breakaway gap on Jan 30th. My read on the market: the 26th ended normally. A discussion happened over the...

    Two breakaway gaps in S&P

    1. Jan 30th intraday data indicates an error in the daily chart's high. If the intraday high of 283.29 is correct, that is a breakaway gap on Jan 30, 2018. 2. On Feb 2, another breakaway gap occurred which is clearly visible on the daily of SPY and SPX. From what I've read, the last time...
