What will be the best alternative to "Linux native" (java) for running ToS on Linux when Schwab drops Linux support?

    Eris Swap futures

Thank you. According to this page https://www.cmegroup.com/market-data/browse-data/interest-rate-volume.html?redirect=/market-data/volume-open-interest/interest-rate-volume.html the 10y swap future has the higher volume. Nevertheless, volumes seem to be generally small. Regarding your question...

    Eris Swap futures

The example I specified is from the same exchange (CME) and the same product suite. It's like offering ZF but not ZN futures. Or offering GOOG stock but not MSFT. I hope def from IB will comment.

    Eris Swap futures

Interactive Brokers seems to have some Eris swap futures but not others, e.g. I can find YIW but now YIE in TWS. Any reason?

IB bid/ask yield figures are wrong! What's wrong?

I came across the same issue. The yield numbers are often nonsensical, like reversed in order, and/or don't match the nominal bid/ask prices. Customer service has not been willing to help or to investigate.

Best time to restart IB Gateway ?

I have not yet done API programming, but I plan on starting soon. I gather that IB requires a client-side component (either TWS or Gateway) as an intermediary between an API client (my programming logic) and IB's servers. Whereas the Schwab API for example, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't require a...

    BOXX etf any thoughts

My understanding is that the derivatives markets (futures, options) might fail if there is a 1-day flash crash of more than ca. 10%, which is about the margin requirement with respect to equity markets beta exposure. A member firm going under for other reasons wouldn't do much, as their...

Tastytrade has set my account to closing only

Your first sentence was superfluous, and I should probably not respond but ignore your comment because of the tone alone. But respectfully, while I cannot disprove you, I disagree with the rest of your comment. High frequency algos and options dealers place and retract gazillions of unfilled...

Tastytrade has set my account to closing only

It sounded like the broker restricted i.e. closed his account (although apparently they offered to re-open if he stays away from certain trades). This seems odd to me. It sounded like the OP was trying to do arbitrage trades i.e. profit from mispricings, using standing limit orders in the limit...

IB supported stock exchanges - NO Korean stocks?

@def What is the status of IB's effort at enabling Korean stock market trading please? It's been a few years since this thread. Any update?

Tastytrade has set my account to closing only

I am not an expert in options trading so correct me if I'm wrong; but I think common sense of options valuation would dictate that this midprice of 87.95 can not possible be a fair price for a DITM credit spread. If a change in volatility made the price drop so much, then I think it was not DITM...

Tastytrade has set my account to closing only

Interactive Brokers for example has a very low (near zero), but positive margin requirement for box spreads and DITM vertical spreads. Therefore the position size is not unlimited. Makes sense to me, because there is a small risk as the value of the spread will fluctuate between now and...

Trading Foreign Stock Options from U.S.

Frankly I read this and your previous post three times, and I have not idea what you are saying. "oversight by the foreign market place"? "harmonization"? The brokers have everything in place to trade on global options and futures exchanges. But U.S. residents are denied due to the U.S...

Sell put itm on ETF SPY

You said the time value of your puts is zero or near zero. That's probably why you get assigned. I think if time value is near zero, then the long option holder can exercise the option at no loss of time value. If your goal is to get exposure to the S&P 500 with little capital requirement, why...

Sell put itm on ETF SPY

A synthetic long position is effectively the same as a long futures position, right? I think buying /ES futures is more efficient to accomplish this exposure, due to lower bid/ask spreads.

Futures options in an IRA account

"in ira, no borrowing and no unlimited risk trades, that's the law." - Hardly true. Futures have unlimited risk, and yet they are allowed in IRAs. Lots of misinformation in public forums. Also, brokers typically have restrictions on FOPs and options in IRAs, but not in other self-directed...
