    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

I'm getting very sick of "The market goes up . . . you make money. The market goes down . . .glub . .. you make money" form Barrons. And those Dell ads are universally irritating, across all channels. I don't care how much everyone loves that kid; I think he's an obnoxious, annoying...

    CNBC Ticker

You think that one's a joke, try the Bloomberg ticker. Not only does it spell out the company names but there's no pre- and post-market data. For a channel that thinks its so stock-market savvy this is ridiculous. The only good thing about Bloomberg is looking at Suzy Assaad. The CNBC ticker...

Thug - So is THAT's why every so often she pauses while she's yakking! I'll have to watch more closely tomorrow LOL

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

Speaking of Maria B at the NYSE open, ever notice how she just stands there amongst everyone while the floor traders bump into her and have to dance around Her Majesty as she stands there bullsh*tting.

    60-minute bars

Since the trading day is 390 minutes, there are (6 1/2) 60-minute bars per day. As a result, the last bar doesn't get printed on esignal if your chart's daily timeframe is 9:30-4:00. You have to set the timeframe for 9:30 to 4:30 to get the last full 60-minute candle/bar printed, but that...

    IB Setting Trailing Stops

It's the same thing with technical stops. Take any intraday 1- or 5-minute chart. You know many of the daytraders have sell stops right below a key pivot point and when the price falls just below it how many times does a bunch of red candles appear as everyone's stops are triggered?? Many times...

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

That also reminds me of one about this guy sitting on his couch watching a tape of (probably) March 2000 showing CNBC-type airhead announcers talking up the market with the usual . . . "Nasdaq 10,000!" . . . "There's just no limit to how high this thing'll go!"

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

Another dumb ad was the one for XRX copiers with the 1960's-look egghead peering into the copier saying, "Hey Ben! Come here! (Duh, I've never seen the inside of a copier before, look there's actually something inside!)". A really nice one was the Mercedes C-Class with the lady whose...

    New Pump and Dumper...

I could've used him to help prop up JDSU and WCOM . . . . . LOL Actually I think this kid and David Faber have a lot in common.

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

Interesting topic, this is! Here's a few of my own: Favorites: Ameritrade "nobody likes a talking steak" bull & bear having lunch. The E-Trade daytrader jumping out the window. "Holy Schmoley" - The man who awakens from coma with the Porsche Boxster. The AMAT commercials showing the kids...

    Execution Software for IB

I bought a year of eSig for 79 a month and got free Level II (just 10 a month exchange fee). I love IB's simple order entry; I just click on the bid and the offer to set up a buy-sell round trip, wait for the entry point and hit Transmit (short or long). The other side of the trade is 1 mouse...

    IB Downtime

IB is down this morning. I've been logged off and on and now I can't get back in. There have been intermittent problems for several weeks now. If Def is reading this board let it be known that I left Datek 6 months ago for this same reason and I will take my business elsewhere. There is far too...

    IB's Front End Software

Oh yes, their quote feed is horrendous. You don't know how many times the bid/offer doesn't jibe with eSignal's. Also last week their quotes were off badly for 2 days; they had INTC at 4 and change with a bid/offer in the thousands. It's a great broker but I'd go elsewhere for data and charting.

    IB's Front End Software

I'm very satisfied with IB. As for their software I use it strictly as a trading platform. I use eSig for quotes/Level II/etc. I agree that the low commissions justify a simple front end. Actually their software is quite easy to use once you get used to it. I have all my core daytrading...

    eSignal CPU Usage

When running eSignal 6.3 my CPU usage runs 90%-plus. This makes running any other app an impossibility because the system slows down to a crawl when eSig is running. This is with 512MB of RAM and an Athlon 1700+ running WinXP. Is this normal? I'm using 3 monitors with about 2 dozen active...

    ESignal

How about fixing the constant bandwidth problems we have in eSig? 3-4 times a week for the first 30-45 minutes the market is open the 6-month daily charts are horribly slow to update. I routinely flip through 30-50 charts in the first half hour the market's open and sometimes I have to stare at...

    TC 2000 Real Time

I agree it is horrible, both in content, price and reliability. I used it a month and found that many symbols like PCLN MCAF AMZN etc weren't even available in R/T. And what about bid/ask prices? Nowhere to be seen; just those 2 hash marks. Also the constant window pop-up about TC2000's daily...
