When do you guys know when to short? Do you just think we've gone up a lot, its over-valued, i'll go in? Or do you look for specific levels or situations?

So they have ample Liquidity ("30 billion of cash and $64 billion in assets that could easily be turned into cash") and access to the FEDs facility. Yet raise $3bn. Everything's tip-top then.

What about Vancouver, presume that is similarly expensive? I saw good quality homes, close to university of portland for $250k. Surely they have investment potential, to students etc?

Europe is the best time zone for trading, but you could encounter language difficulties in certain countries. If you live in Pacific Northwest, doesnt it rain a lot? I heard Portland was a nice city, with real estate reasonably-priced there too.

Rwk, What part of the USA are you from? I think property needs to fall to wipe out the froth of speculation. That may mean falling to values where the cost of the mortgage = the cost or renting.

If you guys have Cash you should clear up in this environment, as you are in a position to move fast and take a bargain.

Ok i understand. Its like council taxes in the UK. Is it still difficult to get a housing loan in the USA even if you put 20% down? There will be bargains to be had soon i think.

Property taxes are per year? What do the taxes go towards? If the property is an investment and is rented, does the tenant pay, or the owner?

Ok thanks for the heads up. So are there any cities in the USA which offer good value for money, in good neighbourhoods? As a british investor i can get $2/£ at the moment, which historically is a good level. I cant see it being this high next year.

If the USA is in the midst of a housing recession, there must be a lot of good opportunities in the foreclosure? Is anyone making money in this area at the moment? Or is it too early to go back into real estate yet? Forgive my ignorance, but i'm from the UK so dont know what the true...
