    Carry, CHF/USD and IB

I'm fairly new to FX, and use Interactive Brokers. I was wondering if a short CHF/USD (considering its current strength) cash position would be a positive carry trade, as i would be shorting a currency that yields, what 1.75%?, and buying one that yields, what 4%? And, if so, does IB somehow...

    Sec. 1256 question, hypothetical

If I lost 10K in short-term stock trading and made 10k in Sec. 1256 contracts, would I report a 10K loss (capped at $3,000 and $7,000 carried over to next year) AND a 10K gain (taxed at the 1256 blended rate OR would I simply be flat for the year, 0 gain or loss?

Will give it a go over the long weekend.

    Pair trading with TWS api

How much would it cost me to hire a programmer to do this, remotely I presume.

    Pair trading with TWS api

But can I send a spread of, say, 3 points for areas of legging with buy and sell orders?

    Pair trading with TWS api

If I install the API will I be able to use Excel to determine the spread between two equities and more importantly trade that number? I have a feeling it won’t but just want to make sure.

I have written spreads, short, call, for credit, at IB. Just want to pay lower fees.

    Deltas on OTM VIX options

I just expected a lower delta, given the likelihood of being ITM on that date. Not talking barrier option here.

    Rothifying

I have a traditional IRA at IB. Can I easily convert it to a Roth, or do I have to open another account and redo paperwork?

Looking for an IRA broker who is

Zero commission for equity and options, no 50 to 65 cent exchange fees, and allows credit spreads in an IRA, which I believe is Level 3. (Firstrade does not, btw.)

Anyone trade XSP options at Tradier?

Do they allow buying and selling in penny increments under $3, in other words I could theoretically buy or sell an ATM option for 0.01 (X100, of course) plus commission and fees? IB allows this but FirstTrade does not. Tradier has not been responsive in answering this question.

    Options, XSP and penny increments

Just to follow up: I misspoke on the above/below $3 premium. But apparently they do exempt some products and I presume XSP is one of them. Their boilerplate below. [The Penny Interval Program allows options for some related stocks and indexes to trade in increments of $0.01. The minimum...

    Options, XSP and penny increments

Yup. Strange indeed. Am following up. Shame, too, as it is the only wrinkle I have found so far in this broker.

    Options, XSP and penny increments

Yeah, I figured it was Firstrade’s decision. They only allow penny increments above $3 for XSP. Shame.

    Options, XSP and penny increments

I can buy or sell an option for one to four cents at IB but I can’t at Firstrade, where the prices on the screen start at five cents. Does every broker get to make this decision? I thought this was mandated by the CBOE. Any answers out there?

Any reason I should not use Tradier?

Just heard from Tradier and apparently they do charge a commission on index options in addition to exchange fees. Alas. I guess Firstrade remains the lowest total expense per contract for SPXW options. If anyone knows of anyone lower, let me know.

Any reason I should not use Tradier?

Trading three to five SPXW or XSP short iron condors a day. My current brokers are Firstrade an IB for ES and MES options. I can’t see how anyone beats $10 a month and zero commission and single index fees at Tradier. Am I missing something? (Besides no futures options.)
