    Chapter 7 question

Well, upon further research it looks like if I stop at five investors, I can slide by with a de minimus exemption.

    Chapter 7 question

And to follow up on the response, it appears, and someone tell me if I am wrong, that I do need a 7 to be an investment advisor in California, and apparently I have to be sponsored for like two frigging years? Seems strange. Is Nevada any different, I wonder?

lol, brain fart. Apologies. Obviously mean Series 7.

    Chapter 7 question

Do you need a sponsor to take the Series 7 test if it's for RIA registration? What do folks who are older, switching careers and might need the license simply for registration do, they really don't want to be brokers? It would be kind of silly to spend 40 hours a week doing front desk work or...

Did I do my Sharpe ratio wrong?

OP here. I'm no Victor Niederhoffer, guys. Trust me. Know all about him. Believe it or not, at least at the moment, I don't touch short puts. All of my risk, with the trade being discussed here, is right tail. If the market soars 22 percent in a day, yeah, I'm in trouble. (It would require the...

    Following Pelosi's trades

Is there an ETF or site where one can see what stocks members of congress have been buying and selling recently, according to disclosure, I believe, they must make?

Did I do my Sharpe ratio wrong?

    1) I sure hope to maintain the record, but even I doubt I will. 2) I heard somewhere that option writing, which makes up a large part of my portfolio, tend to have unusually high Sharpe ratios for some reason.

Did I do my Sharpe ratio wrong?

1.18% 0.89% 0.56% -1.53% 3.62% 0.43% 1.83% 2.14% 1.24% Above are my monthly returns through September. I calculated an annual return so far of 10.64% (after additions and withdrawals in the account). I used 3.1 as a risk-free rate of return through 10.1 (three-quarters, about, of the one-year...

    Short Iron butterfly question

On my long outer wings, what if I bought longer expiration rather than the same term as the short straddle in the middle? Any savings on the losing end?

    To good to be true?

Well, as to your last point, UVXY would have to spike to above 40, to OTM on the (UVXY1) LEAP expiring in January. Not likely, I think. I didn't add this to the original post, but I have also trimmed the overall basis by about 5% by selling OTM very low-priced UVXY puts.

    To good to be true?

Ok, I have bought two of each of the above UVXY LEAPS puts for a total of $3,634.40. Now if I let them all run until expiration/exercise/assignment, I should collect about $7,400 in what will amount to two to three years of staggered holding time. Am I missing something -- besides regulatory...

    Long UVXY LEAPS puts question

Greetings again. Yes, Lisbon was quite nice, very calm, civilized, safe, and friendly; I don't care much for the local cuisine, however, and as for culture it is not London or Paris. But it was still nice. Almost perfect weather every day. Probably what LA was like in the 50s. The real estate...

    Long UVXY LEAPS puts question

I've successfully shorted UVXY in a variety of ways, but I am coming to the opinion that the safest and also one of the highest returns from a short UVXY trade come from buying a UVXY LEAPS put contract and slowly whittling it down with weekly OTM 0.05 short puts over 2 1/4 years, getting close...

    Options on non-U.S. exchanges

Options don't seem to be a big deal/player in other countries as they are in the U.S. at the retail level, which makes me wonder why? And what countries do have a robust retail market for options? Has anyone ever done a study? Are big players trying to make a change?

Can I turn my portfolio into an ETF?

Lets say I have a $1M in a brokerage account and a decent record with an odd strategy. Could I create an ETF to track my performance? How much would it cost? How much could I make from it? Caveats? Hey, there are enough zany ideas out there attached to ETPs, why not give this a try? Might be...
