Emotional traits of the best traders

I have traded for a living for over 10 years and actively traded for over 15 years, starting well before online trading became the norm. Day traders in my view fall into two categories, momentum players and those who look to fade, be it buy a dip or short a rally. A lot of the momentum...

Emotional traits of the best traders

"Emotional traits of the best traders" Contrarian, cynic, skeptic, with a wee bit of misanthropy but a sense of humor big enough to be self-effacing. In other words, visits Elite Trader only for amusement NEVER for information.

    Nonfarm payroll 345,000 job loss

In a Gubmint managed economy being trumpeted and promoted by a Gubmint adoring media, unemployment is NO BIG DEAL unless you happen to be one of the unemployed. Propaganda is the most effective tool of Socialism or Fascism. The plight of the Jew was NO BIG DEAL in Nazi Germany unless you...

Macke: Professional traders are confused & afraid of this market.

Regardless, I haven’t been “kicked off” or “put on probation” from Fast Money. I plan on being there next Monday. That’s simply all I have to say on the matter. Macke seems let down by having to return to Fast Money. But hey, that's show biz for you. IF ONLY, that Daddy...

    Smoking and Trading

I looked in the mirror as a child. So did my peers. We PAID no price. I be healthy, they be healthy. That neglectful and weak parents garbage, is a mixture of the JUNK SCIENCE missionary zeal of secular humanism along with that good old Freudism garbage blame your parents first and then hate...

    Letter from a Dodge Dealer

Somehow I missclicked. I meant to answer that question with another question. How could Chrysler stay in business so long with inconsistent products which the labor cost far outpaced the foreign competition? This guy must think that sustaining a family business is guaranteed under the...

    Smoking and Trading

I have NEVER smoked, but most everyone in my family did smoke both of my parents smoked and quit in their forties and lived to eighty or well past eighty. I can tolerate smoking and smokers. I am not a secular humanist missionary in my zeal to castigate and demean people who smoke. I...

Economics Reporter @ NYT Nearly Gets Foreclosed - He "Should Have Seen It Coming"'

I read the article. But THAT picture speaks a thousand words. The wisdom of Tom T Hall says it all. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Of course what the hell would a NYT hack know about wisdom from anyone, let alone Tom T Hall. Not anymore that this NYT...

    Biil Seidman dies

Bill Seidman was civil, decent, and personable. He was in other words a "class act". And it is a tribute to him that even though his colleagues at CNBC had none of his attributes whatsoever, he remained true to his admirable character.

How fast can orders be executed in the morning?

Your reading skills are appreciated. I know what I meant but it is not what I posted. I trade in 1000 share lots. I am a pensioner as well as a daytrader, so forgive my redundancy as a senior moment.

How fast can orders be executed in the morning?

I have put in a limit order, had it executed on the open, got confirmation, got the gap up or gap down I was looking for, placed an exit order, and the difference between the time stamps was 31 seconds. I trade at least in 1000k increments.

TD ameritrade down again for me

I think you have made the right decision. As an experienced trader, I hate having problems with my executions due to my broker. Changing brokers should not be made in the heat of a moment. But it is my worst nightmare to have change brokers and make the adjustments that would have to be made...

    Jeff Macke: Moron?

Macke has conducted himself as a trash talking in your face CAPITALIST. But longing and pumping banks is definitely a SOCIALIST play. Longing banks may indeed be the play, but not from my world view as a CAPITALIST. Financials are GUBMINT meat and I do not have a taste for GUBMINT meat...

    Bernanke Is A Lying Criminal

David Letterman ridiculed former Secretary of State Warren Christopher by calling him a ''yard gnome". Bennie would make a good "yard gnome" as well.

When Economy Truly Sours (It's Just Begun), Only Then Will Obama Be Popularly Tested

I think Barry like Slick Willie be will be re-elected as surely as the Teflon Don, John Gotti got a free pass on his first major trial. The Democrat majorities will pay the price of populist anger in 2010 just like they did in 1994. Boys like Foley, Jack Brooks and Danny Rostenkowski NEVER...

Senator Durbin - Banks own Congress

Turbin Durbin is an idiot as are most Senators of either elitist party. Thanks, for the link to Salon, I never go there much as my computer is rarely capable of veering that far left.

[Help] Tape reading and other techniques

No, I think I process the information in time and sales, but I do not do so consciously. I know that I would have a very difficult time adjusting to not seeing time and sales and still day trading like I do.
