Anyone successfully daytrade futures @ work?

I do not think it is possible to daytrade without being in front of the screen, too many times a profitable trade will reverse and stop out before hitting profit targets. If you are tending it you can make a small profit or breakeven. I also work fulltime, my job has flexible hours so I find...

Anyone use Lets Go Trade (dba Choicetrade)?

I looked at homepage and it seems like a good broker for a moderately active trader. They clear with Penson, who does a good job and their 1099s are simple for the accountant to deal with. Since present broker uses Penson should be relatively painless to transfer. Account is relatively...

    DUAL P4 motherboard

yo canyon, thanx for the reads, good stuff. although you are right that in most apps, there would be no noticeable difference, gotta admit that there is an appeal to dual procs. sorta the American way, can"t ever have too many processors.:) interesting also: With the imminent...

    DUAL P4 motherboard

so then, if you are crunching some numbers on spreadsheets or stock scans, the second processor will automatically be used to say surf net, or other simple programs. i assume this is built into the OS windows 2000 or windows xp pro since most software is not multithreaded, anyone know how this...

    Gary B Smith of Realmoney.com

I subscribed to his service for several months off and on, very good stuff. Trendline break patterns are reliable short term trades, generally good for 5-8%. I have never been fond of stops so like to average in and out as stuff moves. Still use realmony everyday, Herb Greenberg can...

    Anyone try TCNet yet?

I use TC2000, for a swing trader it is essential. Update two or three times a day for scans and TCnet looks promising but have not tried. Best way to go rather than seminars is subscribe for one month to the swing trade gurus, Landry at tradingmarkets.com, Chartman and Farley at realmoney.com...

    Tight Stops Nightmare!

Gekkomon, i also see no tradeable pattern here, generally buy an uptrend after a two to four day pullback. Cooper and Landry have this 1-2-3 pattern they use which is effective with a two bar stop. Or buy on the original price breakout, or short price breakdown with stop at previous bar...

Ugh!! Get me out of this bad losing streak

Did you ever consider avg. in or out of these trades, i am swing trader from 2 days to four mos sometimes and have found that in this choppy market, a small position say 200 or 300 shares can be averaged every four or five points to better catch market top or bottom. Eg. short 200 CREE at...

    Why oscillators dont really work...

wally, your thought about simpler systems, went back and looked at the "keeping simple' thread, have you ever applied FR percentages to breakouts looking to fade at these numbers.

    Why oscillators dont really work...

Wally, you are right about that, there are not a lot to choose from, but taking the ones that come along is high percentage. Also i find that most normal breakouts will fade after day three, generally for 1/2 a point or a little more. The trouble comes with the ones that do not.

    Why oscillators dont really work...

Not sure about oscillators, but i always fade any stock that is up six days in a row provided bar 6 is two points higher or more than bar 1, these are generally good for a 5-8% pullback, before they may or may not continue uptrend. No homeruns, but a lot of singles.

    How safe is our money?

qdz, Retail brokers are ok with your money, prop. firms need a little more due diligence if your capital is at risk. Your system may be good for daytrading but a good trader can trade any market with a little practice within the boundaries of performance. Revise your parameters for short...

    How safe is our money?

qdz, if you spent as much effort learning how to trade as you do complaining you would have an account to worry about, all retail brokers are insured.

PDT killing you? why not futures?

Daytrading is incredibly difficult, i think many will find short term trading much simpler and more profitable(myself included). You can generally clear 2K a month with a small account and as your account size increases so will your profits. Time is on your side rather than working against...
