i just started and acct with IB to trade futures and made a couple of trades today and was able to buy on the bid and sell on the ask, the maket wasn't moving against me on any of the trades. i haven't tried it for stocks though.

the tick is a short term trading indicator, it's the number of stocks ticking up versus the number of stocks ticking down, if it's a plus number, then there are that many more stocks moving up than down. and vice versa for a minus the trin is a another short term indicator, it indicates weather...

how is their data feed, are their quotes accurate, is it reliable, i've never used them, although it seems they are the broker of choice for daytraders.

if you have no experience and are that desparate, you might as well take the money to a casino, or just give it away, because you will lose it all, you might get luckey on 1 or 2 picks, but from what you had said, you're better off not trading.
