    Bubble World

Fedheads would love to tube oil, but not boost the dollar. A lower dollar solves a lot of U.S. problems. Stabilize the dollar at these levels maybe. Assuming Bernanke et al want to avert a recession but at the same time contain inflation what's their best move Wed.? Pabst? Anybody?

    Bubble World

Companies taking their subprime writedowns is bad for the bears; subprime crisis might be history ( but who knows?). Just when all looks OK the other shoe falls We've been backing and filling nicely since August 16 - also very unbearish. We should see a post-news sell-off Wed PM...

Are there any stock/equities intraday traders left?

I've noted this too. I daytrade only a few favorites but lately it seems to me that they lurch around erratically within normal daily ranges so that their trade sequences seem bizarre but their daily charts still come out looking normal.

Scientist retract 50 year old paper

You are aware that you are hungry; you say to yourself "I am aware that I am hungry." . If your awareness was not arrived at through either logic or material observation is your awareness not an entity that is a member of the set of all entities that exist at that moment and your statement...

Scientist retract 50 year old paper

Not quite. The next generation scientitst develops a theory relevant to an expanded context but doesn't necessarily prove his pedecessors wrong. Archemedes, Copernicus, Newton, Einstein all contributed ideas that are still relevant today.

Scientist retract 50 year old paper

I have a question: Is the only truth that is 'the truth' that truth that is accessible through 'logical proof or material evidence'?

    What a short squeeze...

Well.. as I said, you have to stay with a winning strategy until it fails. I tend to agree with what you say except for your last sentence. We've had many different economies based on many different principles and we've always had crashes; there will be crashes in the future. "I have...

    What a short squeeze...

No doubt. We've been in a bull market so that buy-and-hold has worked in recent years. The fact that your method has been effective to this point doesn't mean that it will be in the future. What happens to you when the big bad bear comes to stay for years? The global economy is a new...

Oprah's school's in trouble and it's "nothing serious'!!? I'm glad I don't live in your world.

Thoughts on Fires and South. CA RE prices?

Lots of high-end RE going up in smoke. Lots of money to repurchase/rebuild. Earthquakes, fires, whatever - Californians never leave.

    American Zionism. The Real Problem

This is why it's dangerous to screw with Arabs - their attitude to time. In contrast to the American attitude to time - "Let's get X over with in a hurry then forget about it." - Arabs will come back for revenge a hundred years later.

Does Israel have right to exist in current form?

Probably every nation in the world was established through coercion at some time or other; borders are usually determined by war or threat of war. The right of the US to exist isn't questioned because its non-existence is not a viable or reasonable alternative, not because the US has any...

Does Israel have right to exist in current form?

Hey, Jews are people too. Of course, anybody, Jewish or otherwise, will regard the land in which he/she was born and raised as the homeland. In addition, the Jews have the historical argument that Israel is the original homeland of the Jews. The post-Holocaust influx of Jews decidedly...

Does Israel have right to exist in current form?

Many of the advantages you list ( boozing, visiting brothels, adultery, etc. ) are anathema to Muslims.

Does Israel have right to exist in current form?

Realistically, though.. no matter what the reason for anybody's tribe having arrived in Israel/Palestine hundreds of years ago the descendants of those immigrants would only naturally come to know the land as their one and only homeland. Even the descendants of those who arrived, as you point...

Even computers can't handle busy market

Missed a few good trades investigating this #+*! trade. The story I got is that the first fill time was only apparently late; it was actually filled at the open but not reported by the Exchange to TD for 3 minutes. This meant that the trade wasn't credited to my account for those 3...

Does Israel have right to exist in current form?

It's my understanding that both Arabs and Jews have been in the land now (and once before) called Israel for thousands of years and that both these peoples were for a long time all Palestinians rather than Israelites ( or Israelis ). When the Brits decided to compensate the Jews for the...

Even computers can't handle busy market

I just got a fill in <2 seconds (same stock). TD doesn't usually screw up like this. This is the worst fill I've had in a year. I retract the routing comment, but it looks like they can't handle major volume for some reason.
