Those making a killing- what are you doing risk mgmt-wise (that i'm not!)...

I was going to say that you were wrong about the dollar range being better on ES, but I looked at the ranges and compared and you are right. However, why are you and others in this thread using MARKET ORDERS trading futures? I'm guessing you guys don't trade off the DOM. I've never had...

Those making a killing- what are you doing risk mgmt-wise (that i'm not!)...

As far as liquidity goes ES>NQ>ER2>YM. ES=25>NQ=5.5>ER2=3.5>YM=2.5 Good posts by Austin and Gurucan. All the charts look identical to me, the only thing that's changed is the volatility, so ER2 is going to be like ES X 2. I noticed some liquidity issues with ER2 today, getting partial...

Those making a killing- what are you doing risk mgmt-wise (that i'm not!)...

ER2 looks like it has blackbox's taking out all trailing stops, I trade it every day and you can see this happening. Put in an order with a 5 tick stop and watch it get hit. I'm not sure what the guys in the P/L thread are doing, but they are making me jealous as well. ES looks a lot smoother...

    I'm down big time today.

This is a good thread, I've had similar experiences Flip. Averaging losers on trend days has taken a months profit for me numerous times. You've inspired me to become more disciplined and to develop a trading plan that will not allow these blow up days to occur.

YM Volume vs. # of participants

Good questions; however, how will knowing the answer to this question affect your trading. Ask yourself the most important question, what time frame do the big lots trade on? Do you care what time frame the 1 lots trade on? What does the size you see represent if orders are fragmented?

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

I agree. Trading should be boring in a way to where it "doesn't" get your adrenaline pumping. This is done through correct position sizing for your account size. Position size should be set at a level to where you don't have to hesitate when taking a trade. Trading too large of size causes fear...

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

Jack, That is a pretty good ratio. With as many trades you took I thought I would be seeing closer to 40-50% commissions.

Is it possible to make $50 to $70 per day with a 4K account in YM ??

I agree with Johnk49 and Jimmy Jam. Quotetracker is awesome software. I believe it's possible to make $50 a day on ym with 4k if you already had the experience. However, it would be easier to do if you traded 2 contracts, because it is unlikely your first entry will be correct. Having a...

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

I wasn't able to figure out the total P/L for your blotter, but I was wondering something more important, which is what your commisons were as a percent of your profits for that trading day?

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

I agree Frank. Sometimes I would see a print on ZN before ECO #'s released, but there isn't any edge for retail traders knowing this.

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

When there is economic news I see ZN being leading index (most the time trading inversly to stock indices), then ES, YM, ER2, NQ. Overall NQ lags. Track the time and sales tommorow on the CPI number and lets see who makes the first move.

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

Jack, Those chart and graphs you showed were interesting and your long post on the different colored jerseys was interesting as well. A post that most wouldn't understand. Size doesn't move price. FEAR MOVES PRICE. bids can be dropped and offers can be raised.

What kind of techniques do heavy scalpers use?

alorainc, That makes it sound like the market revolves around 1 large farmer who is only selling 1 product. Your example would sound better if we said there are hundreds of large farmers all wanting to sell their product at a better price relative to where they bought it, hence open auction...

    Bond Trader 2007
