    REDI participating in Supermontage?

Does anyone think they will or not? My hope is that they break away from Nasdaq once and for all now that they are basically ArcaEx. Any thoughts?

Do you think they will? I really hope they just break away completely now that they are an exchange.

    Blackbox Hedge Funds Please Read

I am looking to chat over this forum privately with any other black box hedge funds that may be out there like our company. My purpose is NOT to discuss proprietary information of systems that are being used, but to look for any contacts that may help me with a couple areas I am trying to...

"I wonder why ECN's participated in SM. I mean, if you were ISLD and were the biggest venue for the naz, and your business model worked, why would you change it???????????????????" I don't think they are participating in SM. They backed away after they found out about the extra fees and...

    Future Trading Landscape

Okay, with all of these mergers of the ECN's going on, it seems that they are collectively rebelling against Nasdaq and the upcoming release of Supermontage. I am trying to get a handle on the future landscape of the market. Will we have a world where you can execute your order on the...

    Single Stock Futures Fungibility

What are your thoughts on the upcoming rollout of single stock futures and the fact that they will not be fungible among the places that you can trade them? Do you think that they will eventually become fungible and if so, is it foreseeable in a year or two?

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

I understand your pain. unfortunately, there is no magic solution. If there was, everyone would be doing it and it ultimately wouldn't work. In order to be consistent in the market, you need a statistical edge over the masses. I mean, you can flip a coin and buy on heads and that system will...

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

Exactly, and also, it's good to get a feel for what's out there. It's just part of the overall business plan. I see what's out there from inside analysis, but it's just always good to fish in a public forum. I am not trying to "brag" about something, just trying to get a different...

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

Well, from my perspective, we are not premitted to discuss our systems because basically, they work and we don't want to jeapordize the revenue of our company. The returns are basically amazing. Some systems are simple, some are much more complex. The best systems work on a basic level with no...

    Mechanical Trading versus Discretionary Trading...Opinions?

Do you do most of your programming of automated systms in VB or C++? Most of our systems start out in VB and end up in C++ once all of the bugs and parameters are bugged out. One piece of a system in C++ can usually run 30,000 lines of code. This makes great for debugging....:)

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

Actually, there are EXTREMELY robust systems that trade in miliseconds and its the execution times that make these systems very profitable. In fact, they are profitable everyday with the only obstacle being network issues from time to time. It's just a totally different world to some...

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

Well, really effective systems are so because the system actually has a edge over the regular retail trader. That could be from use of a computer for analytical purposes or mere execution speed where miliseconds count. Believe me, most of the vendors actually have very SLOW execution speeds...

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

I agree as well, I guess I am just comming from the automated world. These over the counter systems sell themselves as if anyone can make money.

    Mechanical Trading versus Discretionary Trading...Opinions?

Actually, black box systems can be more accurate and less of a gamble than you think if automated and tested regularly. Some even are amazing.

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

Yes, they are. What's the point of giving away secrets of something that works. They would only hurting themselves by diluting the system performance in the general public.

    Mechanical Trading versus Discretionary Trading...Opinions?

In a general description, what are some of the strategies some of you use with the Black Box style systems? On average, what are you daily/monthly/yearly returns?

Trading Software that actually gives a consistent return

One of the biggest mistakes when trading a developed system is to deviate from your plan and curve-fit. Also, another mistake is to quit based on long draw-down periods. Your strategy should stay the course and not be influenced emotionally, especially by capital issues. No matter the...
