    Anyone familiar with payday loans?

out of control APR. Your loan is advanced ahead of your paycheck. So you get 'paid' early, but again with all the fees and interest tacked on, it eats away. However if you do own your own shop, it can be very profitable...or at least a nice side source of revenue.

Many borrowers in default stay put as lenders delay evictions

It's quite common now to be living payment-free for long periods of time. Most states have a 90+ day moratorium before a NOD/foreclosure notice can be filed. + The fact that it takes 3+ months to file it anyway. + Paperwork backlog so it's a virtual crap shoot of who goes where...

Many borrowers in default stay put as lenders delay evictions

I see many foreclosures in my state that the banks are buying back for 75-80+% of the mortgage note if said note was maxed out/underwater. Why not the full? #1 it keeps the investors away who think they can get the home cheap. #2 in the recourse/judgment states, they can in the next x...

    The $555,000 Student-Loan Burden

My parents (and I) were smart enough..we split costs, I went to a state school (public), got Federal Direct loans, and I consolidated when rates were around historic lows. Do guests ever pay to get on business news pgms?

bribery is alive and well. Of course, it isn't always called that ;) As for news programs...I wouldn't doubt it once in a small while, but they're usually through advertising companies/clients as is that are already affiliated...so it's in a slight way "paid" for through connections there...
