Swing Traders: What are your monthly returns?

What concerns me about your strategy is that birds of a feather flock together. Seems sometimes you can look at one chart for one stock and another chart for another stock and they look pretty much the same. My concern would be that one failure could be multiple failures because the birds flock...

Again, if you don’t believe in technical analysis or Bigfoot please find another thread to share your pearls of wisdom. For the rest of you, I’m curious to know what percentage MONTHLY returns swing traders make on average. Not your best. Not your worst. Give me your typical. Oh, and do you...

OK, who is going to lie and say they saw today's HUGE drop in the charts?

Didn’t see the drop. But my charts told me it was to early to swing long. Glad I listened.

Are Decision Points Pending News Events?

I agree. Without divulging my secret formula, there were actually two decision making points. We blew past the first one as I think people were taking a chance on receiving good news (or not so bad news), and they drove it up to what I would call the point of no return. But, they did not drive...

Are Decision Points Pending News Events?

Okay first if you don’t believe technical analysis works please just move along… For the rest of you: I swing trade. My Chart reading over the last few days laed me to conclude that today was a decision day that would trigger a “go long” signal for the broad market or give me a “keep waiting...

    Question about moving averages

And do what with it in your head? Mentally construct squigglies from past data? You’re still trying to make decisions about the future based on past data. We all are.

Why this maths genius refuses to work for a hedge fund

I just want to know when it went From “math” to “maths”. I’ve seen “maths” more in the last year than the rest of my entire life.

    Question about moving averages

    Question about moving averages

uhhh Yes. And at some sites it can move a bit even after the close. That’s why I don’t need to check often, but there are some days where the stock moves in one direction almost all day and I sometimes take a calculated risk.

    Question about moving averages

I trade using moving averages. Since I’m a swing trader I really only need to check once a day. Usually my own curiosity causes me to look more often. I don’t try to predict what the market is doing. I just respond to it’s trend. I try to supplement my decisions with candlesticks and estimates...

    Question about moving averages

Moving averages make me money. Every indicator and TA method looks backwards…even support and resistance and candle reading. I find ma be very reliable. The key is to cobble together a method that uses the more reliable methods.

Prove to me that Technical Analysis Works.

Another example. A herd of cows is walking north. Eventually they turn west. You’re watching this transpire. At what point did you decide they are turning? Did you need the whole herd to complete the turn before you recognized it? No, you would notice that more and more cows were beginning a...

Prove to me that Technical Analysis Works.

OK, is the fear instantaneous or does it taper in and taper out? Is the demand instantaneous, or does it also taper in and taper out? If these outside price drivers taper in and taper out, then price movement will do that too. Separate the random motion from the directionality early enough...

Prove to me that Technical Analysis Works.

For the skeptics of technical analysis, here’s a little exercise: imagine a company XYZ. They make a statement about sales on a Tuesday morning. The market interprets the statement as positive, and the stock rises to $100 a share. On Wednesday there is no news on the stock and no news from the...

I'm looking for an edge - I can share a percentage of my profits

Op: Shoot me a PM. I can help you. I think it would make sense to share what I’m trading in real time (without divulging my method) so you can see it works. Only after that could we discuss what to do next. FWIW, I swing trade.
