How much out of sample testing is enough?

the amount of out of sample data should depend on how many times a year your method trades. try to get a lot of trades in your out of sample data to get a better feel if the idea is holding up.

How will you rate this system?

The main thing i would like to see is just more data. With more data you can now if what your noticing is temporary or has been a consistent repeatable pattern. Also, it will allow you to do out of sample testing to see how well your parameters are holding up. You said that you programmed...

    Rate This Trade

i'm retarded and you want everyone to rate 1 trade, just 1 trade, not even sure if it is real money, where you made 1 to 1, 1 dollar profit to one dollar risk. And that isn't even stating what your worst loss could have been, just what the worst drawdown was in the trade. Not even a group of...

Looking inside a bar. 1 min vs. 15 min bars ...

Something i have done to try and minimize this concern for myself is scale down the time frame so that the logic is still the same, but just running on a smaller time frame to not have to worry about intra bar fills. Easiest to do with patterns.

What are your thoughts of leasing your signals only through a platform like Strategy Runner? This way only the people that you approve can see the signals. I think it's a good solution for people that wany to lease their strategies at competitive rates with out giving out the code itself.
