Paul Tudor Jones(worlds greatest trader) buys bitcoin

He may be buying but he may not be investing. He's a trader after all. During gold's run-up last summer, he said he was buying. Whether he's still holding any is a different matter. He may not be pumping but...

    Which way? Gold.

Will silver ever catch up? The correlation with gold seems a bit broken at the moment. https://www.macrotrends.net/1441/gold-to-silver-ratio

    Which way? Gold.

ETFs are my preference. Here in the UK, you can even get 5x leverage. http://companyresearch.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/dlmedia/security.cgi?csi=54678336

    Which way? Gold.

I've never been a fan of mining stocks. These days, if you want to leverage the price of gold, there are far easier, and more direct, ways of doing it.

    Why is AU going up?

This may be weighing on some folks. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/why-is-the-obvious-not-so-obvious.151802/page-663#post-5018094

    Why is AU going up?

The bear market, which started in 2011, is over, and it's now in a bull market?

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

On the other hand, valuation metrics for the US stock market are a little worrying to say the least. Higher than the peak of dotcom. https://www.gurufocus.com/stock-market-valuations.php Not as high as it got in dotcom, but equal to the peak in 1929. https://www.gurufocus.com/shiller-PE.php

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

You can't. The Nasdaq bottomed in Feb 2009, at about 1600, but there was no way of knowing, at the time, that this was the final bottom. By about June, when it reached 2200, it looked like it might have turned but it could have just been a bear market rally. And here's the paradox. The longer...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

They are pretty easy to spot. There's one marked A-B on the attached chart. But I imagine that's not what you meant. :)

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

If only I knew that. :D When I said "following", I meant reacting (not trying to predict). The reality is, though, that timing, even over the longer term, is not easy and it's hard to beat simple buy & hold.

    Gold

Certainly looking that way. How will it compare to the last new one I wonder. :D

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

No-one can (especially in the short-term), although that is not obvious to everyone. :D You can make decent money, over the long-term, just by following the major trends (bull & bear markets).

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

For me, the "obvious pre-requisite to trading any market" is this. Before you even think of placing a single trade, you need to discover an approach/method/strategy, whatever you want to call it, that will actually make decent money. I know what you're thinking; well, that's stating the...

If you had to choose between BTC and Gold

Which would you invest in? BTC is much more volatile than gold, so let's say the choice is between $1k in BTC and $10k in gold. Or maybe the gold investment is $1k in a gold miners ETF which leverages the price of gold. You get the idea.

    Which way? Gold.

A lot of gold bug types claim gold has entered a new bull market. Some detractors still think it's in a long term secular bear market akin to 1980-2000. I guess only time will tell. :)

Silver starting to look like it's going parabolic. Probably a massive correction on the horizon.

    Which way? Gold.

I've taken a sizable position in Silver. It's a calculated gamble that we're in a new PM bull market and the current GSR of 88 will also fall over the next year or two.
