Would you refuse if Goldman made you an offer?

I had a similar experience with a similar place. At a certain point, it really becomes about preserving yourself and your soul vs. being transformed into someone certainly nobody else will like, and you yourself may not like. Its really seductive too - you feel so powerful flinging around...

    i love this economy

I congratulate you on your ability to "make hay while the sun shines" and "to let winners ride." Just realize that all good things come to an end....

Worst crisis since 1930 and we only had 1 down yr?

    1. Crisis was definately not a figment of our imagination. It was the effects of 'unintended consequences' stemming from Bear/Lehman's handling. 2. Next shoe to drop very possible. But it always has been, so difficult to precisely anticipate. 3. Slow grind seems to be reasonable -...

anybody else stuck in gold from $1115?

CDE at .50 was a good buy, but you should take a hard look at that firms modus operandi historically and the effect of dilution. Of course, a raging silver bull market should make you fantastically rich. But to do it as a buy and hold, unless there has been a change which I am not intelligent...

    Who's buying Gold?

I'll start dipping my toes in small under 1050. I'd love to see 700 again. Fat chance that it happens however! I won't hold my breath. Unless oil is at 40 and median price of a home is back down to $70,000. I wouldn't hold my breath on that however.

wall street hype is deafening as nobody expects a corrrection

I agree. Feels soft. The theme this year has been 'jumping the gun'. Santa Klaus rally may or may not be coming with any strength. Still, feels soft.

Spain Says Adios to Xmas as 19% Jobless Hits Spending

No, its something else. There appears to be more of a sea change in employment preference - face it - women are favored these days. Also because more women work in health care and government related sectors, they are being laid off less than men in this recession. Anecdotally almost...

U.S. Nov. private-sector jobs fall more than expected 169,000: ADP

Well, I feel much better now. ADP's numbers must be wrong.

Ooops! Everyone re-do your costs for Global "Warming"

Climate science is closely controlled by a few people in the IPCC who behave in a very unscientific manner. I'll use my expertise to say that. Its one thing to say that the earth is warming. Its another thing to say that we are causing it, especially when the data is apparently...

Ooops! Everyone re-do your costs for Global "Warming"

And everyone discounts the fact that the earth may be going through a NATURAL warming cycle. And the response is to to tax it? I guess the peace prize is being handed out for innovation - innovation in legal thievery.

Lil' Timmy Geithner Owned by Kevin Brady

And actually, after viewing his response, I would say Geithner was remarkably restrained.

Lil' Timmy Geithner Owned by Kevin Brady

There is a growing political perception that a sacrifice will have to be made, and that sacrifice will likely be Geithner to preserve the Obama administration's face. Out of Bernanke, Sumners, Geithner, that last one is the weakest link...

    FED warns of currency volatility

Are you kidding? Futures market and retail market vs. the interbank market is like comparing a cup of water to the atlantic ocean. Interbank market MOVES because of the size going through. Those two markets follow. Interbank trading exists on credit lines negotiated between banks. One...

Mexicans Sending Money to their relatives IN THE UNITED STATES

Link please. Anecdotally, a MD level doctor I know who is asian indian is on the cusp of returning home. They hate the states. Anecdotal, but everything starts on the margins.

    Goldman bans Christmas party

Probably a pretty smart tactical move. Corzine lost the NJ election in part because he was GS alum, and his 'heavy'-handed tactics against his challenger (pun intended) were seen as more of the odious 'we're better than you' mentality of the elites that is beginning to see a real grassroots...
