keep everything as simple as possible. Stick with the basics. When I went full time, I used my bread and butter - fade the gap on stocks - and it's still my highest probability and most profitable setup. I occasionally fade the ES, but find stocks more suited to my style.

well said. I was short into the close and it was setting up nice,... then wham. Anyone who says they saw this coming with the velocity it took on is a charlatan. I had my stop in so the damage was minimal... it just kind of funny to hear all the 20/20 hindsight guys... they had no more a clue...

Sorry... hate to burst your bubble, but none of this would've happened without a push from the rumor and news that was pumped on CNBC. Without that, nothing was clear... especially the velocity of the whip... classic short covering.

On days like today, I use my usual setups but will put on 1/4 of my usual position and extend my stop loss so I don't get whipped out. It seems to be working... but it still ain't easy. This kind of trading sucks, but it's what we've got, so play the hand thats dealt.

I for one look forward to the "normal" trading days of earlier in the month. I can definitely tell the difference between this market and the one over the last couple of months. I can still pull out a profit, but it's a little more difficult to do.

I agree with you... on extreme moves to the upside, I usually short and wait for price to come back to the EMA for a fairly decent profit. I ended up ok today, but probably would've been better served to sticking to one strategy instead of multiple strategies. I think I just made it more...

Could not agree more... I tend to do the majority of my trading during the morning hours and find it a little easier (gaps and all), but the afternoons are brutal with the whipsaws... still making good profits, but I definitely have to work harder for them.
