Who is your favorite permabull to ridicule?

James "Dow 36,000" Glassman Jim "TYC was a buy at 53.00, an even better buy at 23.00" Cramer Maria "I called the bottom 2 weeks ago by telling everyone to start shorting" Butt-Aroma Abbey Joseph Cohenhead

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

I seem to get filled right away. ETF's don't require it but IB has a set of rules that tend to differ from the norm sometimes.

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

I trade 1-5k lots (depending on strength of trend) using 5-minute bars.

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

Smart routing - yes. I think it routed through the NYSE which would explain the nonsense. The Island is the only way to go with the Q's. You can set a global ECN/exchange or by each ticker. I'm not a scalper so all my standard Naz daytraders are set to 'smart' routing except the QQQ...

QQQ slippage with IB's smart routing

I found slippage on short sales to be especially horrible. It seemed like I always got a fill just shy of the inside market every time, with slow fills to boot. I switched to ISLD and now I get filled where it should be.

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

One of the benefits to the DYN fiasco - an end to this memorable commercial: "Please pass the potatoes - I think they're in Chicago." That nutcase Dynergy woman needed a straightjacket.

    Esignal vs. Qcharts.

Not to mention the spate of bugs in their latest releases. They fix some, introduce others and tell us more fixes are coming. In the meantime we've got bad data, erratic performance and other assorted goodies that make trading the joy that it is.

Why all the fuss about the Dow tanking?...

Better I take their money than they take mine. :D I love the people like Art cashin who say short selling is risky due to unlimited risk. There are plenty more 60.00 stocks that have gone to zero than 20.00 shorts going to "infinity". What crap. Shorting a market like this is as much fun...

Interesting signs of a real bottom in the bear market

You wanna know something? All these gov't hacks should rot in prison, Dem or Rep. They're all on the take. The biggest perpertrators of fraud and deceit reside in Washington D.C. - - - District of Criminals. And I just love the irony of House members trying Traficant on ethics charges. Oh...

Did you have a good day, dear?

I stay calm win or lose. I can control my gains or losses. It's when my ISP cable connection or IB connection malfunctions, which I have no control over, do the fireworks begin. I've got a 9-month old daughter and I don't want her first words to be "Fuckin' cable modem!" :D

    IB Downtime

It's low-cost because you don't pay for talking bulls and bears on TV, not because they're any less of a broker than Datek or AMTD.

    IB Downtime

At least the latest version of TWS doesn't clear the buy and sell lines like the recent one did. I set up a buy and a sell for about 5 stocks in the watchlist and each time it disconnected it would, upon reconnect, clear the lines. I complained to IB-Ernie on their message board and it looks...

    IB Downtime

The way my week has been going, I think I'll go and bandage all my whipsaw wounds and wait for earnings to come out later.:) It's been that kind of week. I've got to remind myself NOT to trade when Greenspan speaks and earnings come out.

    Same here - 2 disconnects.

Ken - Didn't know you were on this board! I haven't seen a Saturday chat in quite a while. Any plans for an upcoming one? They were super!

    Umm, a journal

Sounds like the kind of day I've been having all month :( I've been doing much better trading off 30-minute bars than intraday scalps.

    Swingtrading Versus Daytrading Debate

The only overnight holds I have are shorts. Unless a company takeover is announced you're much safer with gaps. I've seen gap downs of 25-50% but rarely do you see gap ups of more than 3-5% even on an analyst upgrade. It's also a form of terrorism insurance; if there's an incident anywhere...

Interesting signs of a real bottom in the bear market

What nobody has dared to say, of course is that much of the corporate shenanigans was due to such a bad influence in the White House. Remember: If the chief executive of the US can be a lying, cheating, stealing punk, get IMPEACHED and get away essentially scot-free, then what's wrong with the...

Interesting signs of a real bottom in the bear market

Absolutely. Notice how quiet they are on Martha Stewart, a stalwart liberal democrat, and how they're salivating over Bush and Cheney's involvement in stock sales and Enron. Media bias? None here.

    Esignal 7.0

They do have tick charts; just select 'tick chart' under the chart type dropdown menu (Interval, Daily, P&F, T&S, etc). As for options I never use them so I can't tell you.
