Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

This is not meant to be a flippant question, simply a logical one. We've seen many posts with regard to how important it is to train the brain to think positively before trading a methodology with real money. Dr. Daniel Amen's work with Brain SPECT Images clearly shows how negative thoughts...

    I am 25, but I whish I was 85, so I could die.

Toronto, I have thousands in my head, from places I've been, but that's not going to do help you. I'm on a computer that doesn't have access to my photos, so I'd like to suggest going to Google Images and searching using words like Alpine Lake, Hiking, Wilderness and narrow it down to a...

    I am 25, but I whish I was 85, so I could die.

At 46, I've definitely had my share of ups & downs and can be cynical at times (especially about religion and people), but overall I feel very positive about life. I would like to share with you a few things that you can do that are relatively inexpensive and I'm almost 100% sure will help...

    swing-day trading US stocks

Ok, then you're taking stocks like GOOG off your WatchList for the day, if they don't breakout that day? Or, was it taken off the (short) WatchList, because it broke above the triangle, before breaking below 377? Just trying to understand what you're doing. Also, what's going on with the...

    swing-day trading US stocks

Any particular reason why you're not listing some losing trades in your September results? For example, GOOG (9/1) and UPS (9/4).

    Simple Profitable Method

Using such a simple system, what is the purpose of Kwikpop's expert advisor? I've checked out Kwikpop, but never heard of expert advisor. Same question for Marlin's chatroom. Is it just to help with the boredom? I mean none of this keeps you from taking your own signals, right?

    Simple Profitable Method

If your having trouble executing, you might consider using TradeStation and learning to write a simple program to autotrade your methodology. I believe you could even program it to exit the trade automatically after 10 min if your target isn't hit.

    Simple Profitable Method

Wouldn't you have gotten Short again, after the MACD bounced off the Signal line and the bar closed below the 9MA? How long have you been using Kwikpop? Do you still find it usefull?

    Simple Profitable Method

I've gotta hit the hay, it's 11:00pm here, but I'd like to leave another question for you. How do manage your trades after entry? Do you wait for another MACD cross, price to cross the 9ma or just use discretion? Any price targets?

    Simple Profitable Method

I'm not seeing a Long trade before lunch (Aug 31). Tell me if I'm wrong, but I thought you said an MACD cross had to be above the zero line for a Long trade.

    Simple Profitable Method

There was a nice trend on that day. How well did you do on a choppy day like Thur. Aug 31? How long have you been trading this method?

    The Actual Grail

Simple system, yes, but very subjective. If you have the time, it would be very interesting to see some real time position trades with some larger charts showing Entry, Trailing Stops, Targets (if any) and Exit; along with follow-up charts.

    The Actual Grail

If you must always defer to the previous trailing stop, then by definition a short Grail entry, would then consist of not one, but two qualifiers: 1) Lower RSI peak 2) Price must close below last pivot point Is this correct?

    The Actual Grail

On this FX (15) chart, would you agree that before that short Grail there were 3 short Grails that ended up with losses?

    The Actual Grail

Ok, I thought maybe you were adding to positions since your charts show back to back buy or back to back sell signals. You're just showing possible entries. Just curious, how many different flavors of future contracts do you generally have a position open with on an average day?

    The Actual Grail

Do you have any preference for location of closing price within the bands? In other words, you'd still take a long entry even though price closed above the upper band, right? I noticed you trade a diversified group of futures. Do you find that your methodology works better with futures than...

    The Actual Grail

Interesting thread, I've been experimenting with RSI for many years. Have you read Constance Brown's book "Technical Analysis for the Trading Professional"? She has a chapter devoted to Andrew Cardwell's work on the RSI. Mostly has to do with divergences and profit objectives derived from the...

    Money can't buy happiness

At 45 yrs old, I'd say money both can and can't buy me happiness. It just depends on the situation. I'll give examples: Money Can Buy Happiness: 1) I love buying new cars when I want to. Can't beat that new car smell. 2) Worry about the cost of utilities, gas, etc.? Furgetaboutit...
