A stock market top right here?

The markets haven't been overly concerned about Iran so far, but I think this issue is about to come to the forefront: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4891730.stm

    Market Meltdown WTF

I think we'll see higher volatility from here - however you measure it - VIX, variance, range. My guess is that VIX will exceed 20 before the end of the year - and this will catch a lot of people who are short volatility off-guard (mostly covered call writers who might not realize that doing a...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Friend D: Level with us - you weren't really all that hot at high school chemistry, were you? It's an insult to my intelligence for you to claim that the high school to college transition is robbing you of your ability to perform as a student. Student: Look, I'm just looking for some advice...

Giving Up on Prop - What Next?

Student: I just got a C in General Chemistry, even though I've been studying my butt off. I was pretty good at high school chemistry, but this college thing is a whole 'nother ballgame. I'm thinking about dropping this whole pre-med thing. What do you think I should do instead? Business...

    Glub, glub, glub...

Long-term interest rates continue to rise. Asset allocators using DCF-type models should be selling U.S. equities soon - and maybe also starting to shift money into bonds.

    Eur/USD

I also think EUR is going lower. I don't think all of the pre-Trichet buying has been reversed yet. I think there's at least another 100 pips of downside.

    Nikkei 25,000!

Yes, it made to 15400 but not 15000 (since my post on Feb 16). At this point, I'm more inclined to agree with trader99 that it is on its way to 17000 next. I thought the selling would feed on itself - after all, the reason for this latest decline is mostly fear of selling by foreigners...

    Nikkei 25,000!

When EWJ crossed above its 50 day moving average yesterday, it forced me to reevaluate. I retract what I said about the Nikkei seeing 15,000 before it sees 17,000.

    Nikkei 25,000!

I think the Nikkei will see 15,000 before it sees 17,000. Reasons: 1) Foreign investors have started selling. See http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000006&sid=a3pmj1w5p8io&refer=home Japan's Topix Drops on Report of Overseas Investors Selling 2) The Nikkei's momentum has...
