    Trading as an art form

That being said, today was interesting. I've been playing for a bounce since last Monday which obviously didn't work well, I got my ass handed to me every day last week. Today I made it all back plus some...and I sold way too early. It's the big days that matter for my trading, and this is...

Many days are uninteresting and I have no desire to do that.

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

You guys need to be thinking in terms of what returns you need to make this idea profitable. I trade a lot of stuff like this and have a 10-15x target for nearly every trade, and usually hold some for the 15-20x range. If you guys are taking 4-5x it won't work long term.

    Trading as an art form

It's been a while so here was a fun day. Sometimes trading is reading the tea leaves and getting lucky (MARK and possibly BKKT tomorrow morning). Last Thursday I held some DWAC overnight for the $60 gap. Friday I caught the BENE news and got 10k shares <$11 for a sweet trade. These past few...

$5m/mo in shares is hardly anything. This seems like a massive undertaking to save a few bucks. imo

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

You need experience, discipline, and maybe a little luck on your side when the trade hits. The idea is simple, proper execution isn't.

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

I've had 400%+ returns the last 2 years on a decent sized account. With 0DTE you are targeting 1000-1500% per day on the trade. 8-12% would be considered very poor performance. K.I.S.S.

Sorry I just don't understand your point. I've done this exact trade multiple times, it's a real thing.

Leverage + defined risk is what he's getting. Shares don't give you either of those. The defined risk part is huge because in stocks anything can (and does) happen. I don't have to worry about halts/news because I know exactly how much I can lose at any given time. This allows the player to...

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

For what he's talking about doing the greeks don't matter. This is super basic stuff. I'm a daytrader and if I went back to shares I would make significantly less $. The greeks play no part in my trading, so no I don't jest. Let me put it this way...we know Ken has made a little money...

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

You mean my completely theoretical trade scenario to explain a concept isn't going to happen? Thank you oh wise one. Edit: Are you trying to tell us the market can't go down, or that you wouldn't make 15x on the trade?

He doesn't have to understand any of that for a basic put/call buying strategy. All I do every day is trade options and none of that matters.

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

Defined risk and leverage are a powerful combo. Ken doesn't trade much, but it's possible that switching instruments could be the change he needs to make some real money.

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

Ken, you would just buy OTM puts (out of the money). It's very simple, I do it all the time. So if SPY is at $400 and you think it's going to $397 today, you would target something like $398 strike. On MWF they have 0DTE (zero days to expiration) so they expire that day. These are the best...

    Trading as an art form

Today was a decent day. I've had to move more into trading short-dated ETF options since stocks have quieted down, hence lots of activity in SPY/QQQ. I was long all morning which didn't really work out, then switched short with Q's and AMZN right as the market started to weaken. SKLZ was...
