And I couldn't care less what you think. I am just thankful there are guys like you to take the other side of my trades. I notice nothing to say on the S&P basket I showed. Oh, my bad...if one isn't a momentum monkey, then they're doing something wrong. Good luck with that, pal.

Goldman Sachs Trading Unit.....Interesting Developing Story

Ok, while I am certainly no fan of Goldman (I still have the pompous rejection letter they sent me about a dozen years ago) I am guessing nothing will come of this...after all, all the higher- ups basically come form GS. Also, Zero Hedge is a great blog and they aren't in the game of trying...

    POLL: Do you trade ETFs?

I trade them short-term simply because one can find an edge, and because I can gain exposure to an attractive market/sector long or short quickly without stock specific risk. As part of multiple strategies and a total portfolio, I think they are great instruments to trade.

    High Probability ETF Trading

I agree with you on a few fronts. 10.06% is not particularly impressive. But within the context of a robust strategy, it fits nicely versus a buy and hold investor that suffered a 50% drawdown. You will note it just went through its most difficult period as this bear market rally gained steam...

    High Probability ETF Trading

Oh, btw, in addition to the OIH, the other big proxies for the market like SPY and QQQQ will likely trigger at the close on Monday if it is a down day. Just FYI. Turnaround tuesday for a trade in these securities might just work, but I'll take a look at the evidence when/if we cross that bridge.

    High Probability ETF Trading

Yes, perhaps not a 'good' assumption, as I understand the coin flip analogy and statistics. Nevertheless, with the OIH historically having the max consecutive trades go bad at 2, and given they are at/near support, I think taking 2-5% of one's equity for a trade makes a ton of sense. There are a...

    High Probability ETF Trading

Not statistically significant? I disagree. If a very small town in the midwest has 125 people that are not related by blood, but that same small town has a cancer rate that is 5X higher than the state average, would that be considered statistically significant? Would one be able to safely say...

    High Probability ETF Trading

In a previous post I stated I would show a simple strategy that can give one an edge based off of ideas from other's strategies. One of the great things about learning from others is that it helps you to think and branch out into other ideas that very well may be profitable (provided one is...

    High Probability ETF Trading

I have purchased the book. As a previous poster noted, much of it is derived from previous work put in the public domain by Connors. However, that doesn't mean it is useless. It never ceases to amaze me how many posters argue opinions without any facts to back up their argument. If you have...

The long MRX, short PMTI has been taken off the sheets. In 8 trading days the trade yielded $3.31 in the differential, or +9.96% in the capital employed. Does it have further to go? Probably...but given the relatively low correlation for 2 stocks in the same industry, I am comfortable with...

    article: Millionnaires Go Missing

Guess you've been listening to your college professors. That being the case, a truism comes to mind: "Those that can, do, those that can't, teach." Keep listening to em, dolt. Now, hurry up and get back to your socialist class and let us capitalists do our thing and make the wheels turn.

    Stats on Post Expiration

You're absolutely correct. Got my dates mixed up, my bad. Well, at least it's out there should the situation present itself next monday.

    Stats on Post Expiration

I thought I would post a few stats on post option expiry that may help a few with their daily or weekly trading bias. Many know the following Monday after option expiration tends to have a negative bias. I wanted to test that and give a few concrete numbers. For the backtest, I used the...

Since fundamentals do matter, and TXN recently raised their guidance (even if the analysts don't believe it) I have exited the long INTC, short TXN trade at a small loss. Currently the position is down 1.0%. The long RDC, short NFX is up 1.5%, and probably still has room to go, but I have...

    Trading and having kids

Kudos to you for realizing being a good dad is important. I'm in a similar situation, though my son just entered his teen years and pretty much takes care of himself. That being said, he still requires things during the day, but understands that this is my work day and I am to be interrupted...

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

No shit...a wannabe trader that comes here and just posts sarcastic comments. Thing is, she only makes these comments for attention, as she is trying to get away from the attention she got from hairy-backed men in college who did the pump and dump with her after having had too many to drink.

Quick follow-up: I have taken a portion of these off. Over $2 in the long KNDL, short PRXL. I'm leaving some on, but wouldn't surprise me to see a bit of a pullback in the pair given the run KNDL has had over past few days. KNDL currently at $13.40, PRXL at $11.46. Assuming one weighted...

Hi dealmaker. Can you explain your logic on the latter pair, KO/PEP? The reason I ask if because I took the inverse of that position off yesterday (long PEP, short KO) after having held it for several days (it was -1.8 std deviations from the mean.) It currently sits at -1.1 std dev. I am...
