No worries!! I just wanted more downtime, time to spend with my girl. She works close to our place so we have lunch together at 1 everyday. I have time for myself between 2-5:30 hit the gym at around 6 watch tivo or movie at night. We have a nice pad on the beach with a view of downtown SF from...

I have and have read both those books. Very helpful. I think futures have been the death of me. But I've learned a hell of a lot.

That is exactly the biggest difference. These indexes seem to turn on a dime. I was able to ride stocks that were trending much easier. Once I get my account back over 25K it will probably be stocks moving forward.

That is true. Dwelling on the past is not helpful. I have been trying to adapt and will need to cool down on the trading for a while. It would be hard for me to trade 1 lot maybe 3 or 4 might be the sweet spot.

Yeah, it was. I have read too many books on trading makes things too confusing. Need to focus on only a few setups. The corporate gig was draining. I was up at 6:30 PST to trade. Left for the office at 9 got there at 10 worked/traded till 1 left the office at 7 got home at 8 had a quick snack...

I wish it were a joke!! Not totally as bad as it seems. I have enough money to last me about a year of doing this without having to make any money trading. My girlfriend is also supporting me. If this doesn't work out I get another corporate gig and swing trade on the side like I was. I also...

I agree. I titled this thread out of pure frustration. The hardest thing to come to grips with is the time I spent learning about the market. Walking away from the time I spent would kind feel like a true waste. I know I had to take a shot thats just the type of person I am. Didn't want to...

The most I ever made on one trade was 6%. My average was about 1-2%. Those percentages were based on my leverage usually 2 times capital.

Yeah I started this post when I was at my lowest point. Really felt frustrated. Thought it may help to get everything out in the open and start dealing with reality a bit. Thanks for the advice

Funny you should mention IBM. They were the ones that won most of the outsourcing contracts. I was working at Visa on the IT side.

Thats an average. The first 4 months I swing traded 1-3 days then the last 2 months when I was able to day trade I traded about 40 times a week. I'm averaging over all 6 months.

At this point I can't. My account is under 25K. Maybe if I get it back over I may go back to stocks. I also feel like I've become so twisted with all I've "learned" that it will take some time to become a "dumb" profitable trader. I used to trade very simple strategies from a distance...

I think the lay off was a blessing. I basically blew my severance pay in one month of trading though!! Yeah I have other opportunities. I know often times day trading is a last resort but when I was hot I figured I had a chance to make real money. I was hitting about 70% of my trades with a 2:1...

Thanks for your comments. The reason I started trading futures was for the leverage and to learn something new. I guess I figured trading was trading and my performance would cross over. I made the switch to futures since I started trading full time after being laid off from work at the...

Doing the opposite of my gut... I've tried that... doesn't work either?!!? I took my stock account from 12K t0 37K in 6 months doing about 15 trades a week. Now blew the f'n load on futures in 6 weeks. I started off trading 10 - 25 cars per trade. Thats how I lost most of it. I still have about...

I started trading futures full time on April 2, 2007 but it might as well been April fools day. I though I knew how to trade. I had tripled in the previous 6 months trading stocks. Futures is a different ball game. I started trading obviously with too big of size. Oh yeah and I forgot to...
