no minimum holding period nor % loss rule. but, permission is required for any purchases and sales. just don't agree with the 'no shorting' rule, which is supposedly for safety reasons. :confused: hi jackR - bank, medium size, asset mgmt. :confused:

most likely won't hit one, since i only trade 4 stocks/etf and never at once - AIG, FRK, GLD, BAC. if somehow, AIG is added to the restricted list, then i don't trade it. again, it's the 'no shorting' that's the problem. don't wanna buy puts, due to wider spread, dealing w/time decay, etc.

forget about even shorting...futures trading is not allow.

yup, posting from work pc. to all: don't think company is strict about what i can/can't buy (haven't once been denied yet), just an inconvenience to always have to get approved first. it's the can't short rule that i don't like. however, at worse, i can buy puts, which are allowed.

yup, keep your day job and trade on the side. anyway, to answer your question. i daytraded from 2002 to 2005. i resigned from my prior firm (back working for them now) to go day-trading b/c i was thinking if i didn't try it now, then i'll regret it later in life. better to try and fail then...
