In my opinion, if you are just starting, and trying to build your account, a $500 daytrading margin is not a good idea. The over leverage will kill you. One little mistake and your account is a history. Unless you have 3-5k of cash in the account and trade 1 contract with $500 margin. Also...

You can trade futures in IRA with GlobalFutures, JR Futures, Open E. Cry. All of them will require you to open account with a trust, I was recommended Millenium Trust, then the broker will setup an IRA account for you and enable you to trade as if it was a regular account, $500/contract, etc...
