3rd party software, Ninja Trader / Multi charts/SmartQuant

Actually this option is already there. Our developers have just told me that you can navigate to Tools -> Options -> Startup in the main OpenQuant menu and turn check for updates off. Regards, Anton

3rd party software, Ninja Trader / Multi charts/SmartQuant

Sure, we will add this option in the next OpenQuant update. Meanwhile I think you can configure your windows firewall to block any network connection attempts from OpenQuant. Regards, Anton

3rd party software, Ninja Trader / Multi charts/SmartQuant

After all... SmartQuant (as well as Ninja and TS Support) have been in the trading software business since 1997. If our customers have a slight feeling that we sniff user information, the business is dead. I don't think it's worth taking such huge risk, so you can sleep well :)

We are going to release OpenQuant 2.0 supporting multiple strategies in a couple of weeks and we want to update documentation as well. We have also started FAQ section on our forums (how to do this or that in the code or GUI). I hope this should help. Regards, Anton

3rd party software, Ninja Trader / Multi charts/SmartQuant

Well, it really just checks for updates (at least OpenQuant) :) . Actually this feature was requested by our customers since they wanted to be informed about new versions. Do you think that adding an option that allows to turn this feature off will remove your concerns? Regards, Anton

This is a natural development for WL. The platform was slowly dying, but don't you think it's a bit too late? :)

    programming language designed for trading?

We have a built in QuickFIX engine, and we can connect to TT FIX out of the box, though I was not talking about FIX connectivity here, but about FIX business object model. We have developed our core API having FIX model in mind, so that our Instrument class is in fact FIX Instrument block, our...

    programming language designed for trading?

FIX has nothing to do with programming language, it's a communication protocol. On the other hand it offers a pretty good business object model developed by professional community. We use it as a business object model in our software.

OpenQuant -- RightEdge -- and IB

You would need QuantDeveloper from QuantHouse to develop custom trading applications, although you can easily use third party components and libraries with OpenQuant. I know that our customers use R / Matlab libraries with OpenQuant. Just drop us an email to openquant@smartquant.com and we...

    programming language designed for trading?

We have constructions like Bars.Ago(10).Close or Bars[10].Close in OpenQuant. I am rather talking about language constructions reflecting a specific concept / subject / field that can not be expressed in another language. For example Event Processing Languages introduce time...
