    gray-box trading

Have any of you guys tried gray-box trading? Essentially the system designer gives you a tool you can tweak a bit but they don't tell you the exact math behind the signals... just curious...

transfering stock - where and how do I do this?

Correction - it appears it cannot be done. They are prepared to do it if I put the shares into a relative's name, but it appears it is impossible to buy shares for someone who is not related to you... ...does anyone have more experience with this?

transfering stock - where and how do I do this?

I'm already a dork so that won't change much :D I contacted another broker that I used to have an account with and they can do this no problem... gotta give a big thumbs down to Questrade, where my current account is at.

Wouldn't that just kill ya if the bottom was 705 :)

transfering stock - where and how do I do this?

You would think that my brokerage firm would work with a transfer agent for cases like this...

transfering stock - where and how do I do this?

Okay, I contacted my brokerage firm because I wanted to purchase stock as a gift for a friend. I was abruptly told that purchasing stock for a third party is impossible. I called bull because I've heard of people doing this. Anyway, it appears my brokerage firm is not able to do it, but they...

    have system, will trade

Hi guys, I have a system with a clear edge, but unfortunately don't have enough capital to trade it for a living (which is my ultimate aim). I don't know if a typical prop firm would be interested in what I do... I prefer to trade futures and require a larger stop loss... but I only...

i'm going to take a trade every 60 seconds

Are you asking? You get a few cents every time you add liquidity to the market as opposed to removing it. If the bid is $10.00 and the ask is $10.01, and you post a bid on an ECN at $10 (you want to buy at $10) and you get filled, the ECN will pay you a few cents (figure around .20-.25 cents...

    Calendar Spreads

I'm curious - if the idea is to play calendar spreads when IV is expanding would not have most equity spreads put on in Sept/ early Oct of 08 been crushed once the market fell off? Surely IV must've been ramping up during that time period. I made decent coin on a calendar spread I put on WFT...

    system historical results on ES

Ok, some of you who were following my last thread " building the system," were very helpful to me and I would appreciate any further input. I purchased historical tick data on the ES futures and ran my system through several years of testing (not finished yet - but these four years will give...

    backtesting futures

Yes, I'd like to know this as well. Also, futures is a 24 hour market? Or do the North American stock index futures trade at the same time as the index?

    backtesting futures

Okay, that makes sense. Maybe someone else can help us out on the other points. What I'm wondering is if I can use the latest contract for backtesting or if I need to use previous contracts for backtesting previous months? ie for testing Nov/Dec 08 do I need to use the Dec contract or can...

    backtesting futures

As I mentioned in another post I am unfamiliar with trading futures, I've only ever traded equities and options. Now, when backtesting futures data, do I want to use the current contract or a continuous contract? I did some testing on ES H9 which is the March contract S&P emini I believe... is...

    building the system

I think this is good advice. I have to admit I've only ever traded stocks and options, and have no experience with futures (although I follow the NQ and ES intraday). I would bet that yes, a good portion of my edge is due to overall market movement and trading the futures might simplify things...
