It absolutely is trickling down. Otherwise there would have been a complete collapse in US housing prices. For all the whining and complaining, these guys have been targeting exactly the asset class that has the most near-term benefit for "Main Street".

I think it's a pretty illuminating discussion on the fiscal realities of this business. There is an awful lot of whining on here from traders about this or that fees and this or that cut, with little information coming from the other direction, ie, what's involved in financially backing...

The good VCs can do this, but it means having a few home runs where you're getting 20x the return on a single investment to make up for all the complete 100% losses. I think the downfall for the owner with a plan like above is that it's going to be tough to get a good trader to stick around long...
