Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

"Free entry" doesn't exist. The first thing "Capitalists" do when they get an edge in a marketplace is atttempt to turn the edge into a monopoly through traditional business practices as well as by influencing the law making process to either legitimize their monopoly or put up barriers to...

Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

This started as an interesting thread. It is too bad ideological blinkers don't allow for irony, else we'd all be having a good chuckle over some of the comments being made by people driving to state-subsidized jobs over state-provided roads in state-subsidized vehicles fueled by...

Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

You are, of course, welcome to use any self-serving re-definitions you like. Unfortunately it won't make for much conversation.

Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

It doesn't take but 5 minutes listening to the tort reform rhetoric to see that "rule of law" is a socialist, not a capitalist, concept.

I never said otherwise. You completely missed the point. Edit: why did you delete your post?

Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

It would be more accurate to say capitalism is a civilized "justification" for maintaining ownership of property obtained, often, through various non-capitalistic means. Bottom line, capitalism is non-existent with socialism because money itself is a socialist concept.

    Example Trading System

With all due respect, the system not only uses an MA, it uses as a starting point a generic technique itself derived from extensive analysis of historical data. The article cannot legitametely claim to have done any out of sample testing. The Thursday filter does, in fact, turn a "losing...

    Example Trading System

It would help, but it isn't sufficient. Any data the tester/designer has seen or used in any way is already "in sample". However, that is a long discussion....... Not "is" profitable. "Would have been" profitable.

    Example Trading System

It is, or should be, an expected result. But apart from that, don't believe what is posted here, test it for yourself and see.

    Example Trading System

The idea they originally start with is based on market structure and quite valid; it is, essentially, a backdoor bet on volatility. What they do in the subsequent analysis, however, is a case study in how to data-mine your way out of a useful idea and into something that tests well but will...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

Of course not. Those "assurances" would be made privately. But it doesn't matter, even if he wasn't lying about it, his Life Clock is at Red 7 and flashing.

According to your own earlier statement, that attitude makes you a fanatic. Period.

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

That is the price to be paid for continuing to refuse normal diplomatic relations and for running one of the worst intelligence services on the planet. Ultimately, it's not even that important, as we have plenty of evidence that the corridors of power in Iran are filled with people who very much...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

Neither did Stalin, and his scale of murder and oppression make Saddam look like the Tooth Fairy. How they value the lives of their own people is irrelevant to MAD: all the credible evidence points to both Saddam and the Mullahs in Iran valuing their own lives rather highly, which is all that is...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

Average age of US soldier in WW2 : 26 Average age of US soldier in Korea : 24 Average age of US soldier in Vietnam : 19 Given the willingness of the public to continually drop the threshold for "adult offender" status, there is no doubt at all that, if Vietnam had continued, 16 year olds...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

I never said any such thing. I said Iran with nukes would be a stabilizing influence in the region. People who obtain power like to keep power, and the first step in securing longevity is getting your own house settled. I don't doubt for a moment they would be closer to the Pinochet end of the...

Time to crash the bond market

Long bond, yes, and it is not for the faint of heart. I use options, spreads, guaranteeing the downside risk is contained, wouldn't even think of doing it any other way. But that's me, others have higher risk tolerances.

Are you talking about church bells sounding for Matins? I was shocked to learn that most churches these days don't use real bells, they use amplified recordings of bells.

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

This has been known for a long time. Briezinski acknowledged a decade ago that he had been arming Afghani nutcases specifically so they would have the wherewithall to launch painful terrorist attacks on the then-Soviet Union. The plan worked so well, the terrorists were so effective, the Soviets...

Economic impact of possible attack on Iran

A major problem in the region is all the local powers are feeble on a global scale, which means any and all external influences are relatively free to muck things up. Should Iran develop a legitimate nuclear deterrent, it is highly likely the region would stablize in very short order. The...
