micro-credit: what is the economics behind it

I must admit I was expecting a lower intrest rate for a defaut rate of 1.5%. But if this is true, I don't see why he should get a nobel peace prize. Sounds like a buisness man to me.

Is a trade deficit good or bad?

with the recent developments, specifically china who isn't technically floating the RMB but not trying it to the dolla, and the japaneese who have gotten out of their gigantic debt and seem to be on the road towards postive growth. Isn't it logical to assume that the dollar will be devalued? I...

Is a trade deficit good or bad?

it seems like the consensus, if there is one, says that the trade deficit is only good until the world devalues the dollar enough to send us into some sort of stagflation. However, isn't the defecit, at least partally, due to the relative wealth of america versus the rest of the world...

    The Prop Trading Industry EXPOSED

Greenspan: "I don't give a shyt if China and Japan decide to stop buying up bonds"

there's nothing wrong with my statement. It is possible to gain tax revenue from lowering taxes, go back to ECON 201. Are you saying that the democrats are the ones wanting to lower taxes? I'm not bashing democrats, I'm a democrat myself. But to say that they are on the right end of tax...

Will the Fed pause on Tuesday?

I think if they pause you're gonna see a 100-200 point gain in the following few days. I think the market is accounting for a rate hike.

Greenspan: "I don't give a shyt if China and Japan decide to stop buying up bonds"

but wait, you are assuming that our tax revenues would go up from a raise in taxes. That isn't always the case, as the Laffer curve shows us. Last quarter our tax revenues increased with a lower tax rate. Amirite? The problem is, the democrats can't understand this principle. Can we ever...

Recent college lost in the world of trading!

I just wish some of the hedge funds/ IB's were more receptive about my major. Id rather get into trading young, so I can tell if this is something that I would want to do for the rest of my life. Its tough for me to justify going back to college to get a M.F.E when I've never offically worked...

Recent college lost in the world of trading!

well I guess floor trading wasn't exactly what I meant. Even though i did say "floor trading" :P. What about something like the traders that you see in the big trading rooms at UBS and stuff? Are they all quants? I am looking for a compromise between quants and the floor trading I guess.

Recent college lost in the world of trading!

Thanks for all that! Very interesting stuff. About the financial engineering, I know its heavy on math, and I am worried if I were to go to one of these programs, I would become a quant. But I want to be more of a "floor" trader, it seems that would be a little more fun, am I wrong?
