    SuperSOES is here!

Full participation won't happen, nor is it as good an idea as you think it is. NASDAQ is aiming to reduce the use of the ECNs using SuperSoes and SuperMontage. ECNs that participated in SuperSoes would get inferior treatment (perhaps justifiably) because the ECN fees would (if NASDAQ has its...

Min Acct. Rule- The other BIG concern!

I agree that 4:1 margin is crazy, especially in volatile issues that can easily move more than 25% per day. It also seems interesting that the 3-day lag that most brokers give with margin calls was not addressed - it does not appear that anyone is worried about intraday wipeouts. (This is, of...

    SUPERSOES in action

Your list is missing a bunch added at the 2nd phase - e.g. NVDA (INTC & CSCO addition tomorrow being phase 2.5ish, before everything switches at the EOM). http://www.nasdaqtrader.com, the only definitive resource. :)

    Broker access to ECN features?

Before I send a request to IB to add an interface to them, can anyone tell me whether it is unusual and/or difficult for brokers to provide access to ECN features such as reserve size, at-the-market auction, discretionary, IOC, etc... Do other brokers offer these? Do ECNs charge extra for...

Foreign futures trading - data, links

I'm having trouble finding a source of realtime overseas futures data (i.e. charting/analytics) in the lower end (QCharts, esignal, nextrend) of the spectrum... Can anyone get me pointed in the right direction? http://www.futuresource.com has their PROnet products, but I'm not willing to pay...

    What if....

A computer that simulated the universe with perfect accuracy would have to be at least as complex as the universe. Since the market is a reflection of the crazier people in one small backwater of the galaxy, you probably would need to simulate the whole universe to get something that truly took...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

FWIW, I really like to have the statements e-mailed to me so that I have control over and possession of the data, and in fact I need them in e-mail form to feed into my records system (since it is easier to process plain ASCII than HTML from the web site). I agree that the option to not...

    IB for futures

When attempting to use the futures TWS demo, I am unable to get a (simulated) order execution. The following error message appears: Rejected - YOUR ORDER EXCEEDS THE NET CONTRACT LIMIT IT IS BEING CANCELLED This is for one contract, either direction, multiple futures products. No open...

    Looking for intraday historical data

The NYSE sells CDs of tick-by-tick data for NYSE/AMEX/NASDAQ, one month of data per CD. You will have to hunt around on their web site for more info, sorry.

    interactive brokers large block execution

As far as access to ECNs, they're all there. Are you sure you're not just choosing BEST all the time? As far as page arrangement, I usually create a new page for each stock I'm going to trade, with all the possible routes for that stock on the page. I also make some pages that list the BEST...

    Live news feed

I assume you mean streaming news, and not just a web page (for the latter, any free web site does fine). I know http://www.redinews.com exists - free trial, worth evaluating at least. Usually you have to buy news with your analytics, but QCharts doesn't offer that. If you want the creme de...

IB's Island ECN ShortSale Uptick Rule Question

The uptick rule does seem to get enforced - I think people are just getting lucky fills and trying to come up with magical ways of explaining it. Application of Occam's Razor is recommended.

    Anyone is trading Forex? 50:1?

I have been told by a futures broker that the currency futures are not nearly as liquid as the spot market, but that something called "exchange-for-physical" works around that problem. AFAIK there is no leverage advantage going from underlying -> futures in currencies, so the only reason...

    Anyone is trading Forex? 50:1?

I have not used their services, but matchbookfx.com is an ECN-style market for forex, so you don't have to worry about getting read by the dealer. It is supposedly the same software base that runs the NTRD ecn on nasdaq... Hope this helps.

    Decimalization

Please don't confuse liquidity reduction with liquidity diffusion. The same liquidity is there within the same range, it's just that you get to see people's individual opinions a lot more clearly. More information has both advantages and disadvantages :) If you were to perform the decimalized...

    Short List: IB vs. Datek

def, thanks for the info. However, I and others have had problems getting shorts on NASDAQ issues such as BLUE & CCMP, which are not big NDX stocks, but also are not tiny-float nor UPC11830. Someone was saying that IB's short list for NYSE issues was excellent, but I rarely trade them. Is...

    Death Blow to DayTraders

Single-stock futures have been approved and will probably start trading in the US shortly after this margin rule goes into effect. However, I am not convinced SSFs will be as great as some claim - there have been some pretty big liquidity problems with the ones that currently trade in other...
