So, how did you backtest it to see how it would perform over many trades? Stop me if you'd rather not give details. I trade a long term breakout system as well, not based on N day breakouts, but on volatility. You're not telling me anything I haven't heard already about trends. I'm not a...

Right, not much rain. Just thinking that a storm may be brewing. Just thinking about your position sizing: at 4000 shares... what was your intial stop value? And how did you go about setting parameters in a backtest to capture just those breakouts from flat bases?

billprittjr, not to rain on your parade, but have you backtested this? It doesn't backtest very well over a longer term from what I see. Here's the criteria I used, based on your posts here and on other forums: Nazdaq stocks with strong IBD rankings; if 60 day EMA volume triples and...

    Interesting tax recommendation on CNBC

These type of informational segments are never in depth, they are sound bytes. TV is entertainment, and must move along rapidly to the next topic so that people don't change channels. I saw the segment too, she didn't know any accounting firms that specialized in an 'easy way' to track...

Adjustable rate mortages are attractive under certain scenarios. For example, such a mortgage with an initial period of 5 or 10 years where the rate is locked in and does not change is attractive to someone who intends on moving by then. The initial rate is usually very low, and that keeps their...

I thought you may enjoy this information, gg: According to scripture, Christ was delivered up two days before the passover that year. The passover was celebrated on the 14th day of the month of Nisan, of the ancient Hebrew calendar. That calendar was based on lunar months, and so does not...

NEW YORK—After falling 6 percent in the past three weeks, the U.S. dollar hit a 208-year low against the U.S. quarter, which had been valued at exactly 0.25 dollars since its introduction in 1796. "The dollar continues to slide against most major currencies," Morgan Stanley analyst Richard...

Yep. He spins his answers and never really answers the real question asked. His last few posts were typical spins. Those that weren't spins were denials, the rest were put-downs. It's his idea of "having fun with ET members".

    IB and Tradekeeper

Tradekeeper seems to work pretty well. Yes, it will prompt you as to whether the reported amounts have taken into account commissions or not. The learning curve is not huge, plus, they also have a yahoo forum in the event you have questions.

    Are trades indepenent?

How do you get that correlation? Reducing bet size has to do with putting on risk proportional to account size, not on whether or not there's a dependency inherent in the trades.

I don't think he meant you, db, regarding the "pissing war". I think that might nave been an opinion about the exchange between rogue trader's "do you leave the seat up" response to murray's "i don't have the rsi displayed on top" comment.

No, it's that it's been discussed quite a few times, and new members are encouraged to search the forums. Chances are better you'll find what you're looking for over the chances everyone will repost what they've previously written. Go with the high probability.

Has anyone made consistent trading profits with a purchased system?

A related question that you may be able to answer for me, nitro, is that according to Pruitt and Hill, among the top approaches used by the best trading systems have been: 1. Donchian Channel 2. Moving average cross-over 3. Short term volatility based on opening range breakout Would you...

    Day Trading Methods

It's titled, "Ungarbled Gorb", and here's the review: $19.95 might cover the first book which is the lexicon series, but the "simplified" part promises to spring several sequels that leave readers just as confused as when they started. The first sequel, "Waiting For Grob", a mystery, revolves...
