    How to learn to trade?

Imitate -> Emulate -> Innovate. First you've got to do #1, then #2 will come along, and finally #3. #1 you do need books for. #2/#3 not so much, those will come naturally!

    How to learn to trade?

@OP: You need some sort of theory on which to base your trades. For beginners, the best theories books would have to be: 1. How I made $2M in the stock market by Nicolas Darvas 2. How to make money in stocks by Williams J. O'Neil Those will give you the theories. But you also need to know...

FREE quote servers to scrape quotes during trading hours?

I don't need historical quotes. I need live 15-minutes delayed ones for today!

Any long term strugglers out there?

And like I've written above. There are no inverse H&Ses, only cup&handles...

Any long term strugglers out there?

Lol. Inverse H&S --- the biggest BS I've ever heard of (and I don't mean to offend any ETers here). There is no "inverse H&S". That's a long winded name for an O'Neil cup&handle. On that chart above. The first setup (long) is a Darvas-type box-breakout setup (coincidentally it's also an...

Any long term strugglers out there?

That don't mean nothing. Imagine you're training in karate, except you're self-taught vs attending a dojo. Obviously it's going to take you a long time to master the same moves as a guy visiting a dojo regularly. You can do 1000's of kicks and you will still suck compared to the guy who...

    Your advice on STXS

This is just reading the intraday chart, I see it rebounding to 1.4. Magic number on the daily chart is 50% of 1.9 (they trapped alot of buyers there during the recent run-up). Fib retracement to 50% of that price should shake most of them out... Btw, I don't follow technicals like MA's. I...

    NUGT/DUST

Gonna switch over to updating this thread on the weekends. Don't really care if you think my trades are bogus if they're not verifiable by posting in real time. I need to be focusing on the markets not this forum. For the record, I started trading NUGT/DUST when I started this thread. I'll...

FREE quote servers to scrape quotes during trading hours?

That's not true. Yahoo used to have a quote server that returned just the stock info in a short string and it was FREE. Don't know if it's still running.

FREE quote servers to scrape quotes during trading hours?

I don't mind 15 min delayed quotes. I'm not looking to scan an html file for the relevant quotes, but to actually query servers that return a CSV file or string. Does nasdaq.com really have quote servers you can query with C#?

FREE quote servers to scrape quotes during trading hours?

I've got some C#/.NET skills I want to put to use. What are some free quote servers where you could scrape OHLC stock quotes during trading hours (and I don't mean End of Day data, but the day's OHLC as it is happening this day)? Thnx

Which is more profitable? Short-term trading or long-term trading?

If you are a long term holder, you're more likely to get killed by certain unseen factors such as the recent market downturn. In short, the longer you hold, the higher the chance of such events happening.

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

Plz, I'm nuts for declaring JP doesn't have crimes? The entire point of my debate was clearing up why a certain poster didn't believe you could get robbed in Japan if everyone around you knew you were a walking multi-billion Yen sign.

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

This is the part you're mistaken. Just cuz ppl in Japan don't have guns don't mean they won't resort to using knives, bottles, acid, gasoleen, or arrows to commit their crimes. Anyways, when you have an actual citizen of Japan (trader CIS) declaring he doesn't want to be known out of fear of...

Which is more profitable? Short-term trading or long-term trading?

That wasn't the point. The point is a lot of traders don't make it big by betting on the longer time time. The Japanese trader that went by the name of CIS made $34M from the most recent market crash within a few days!

Which is more profitable? Short-term trading or long-term trading?

@OP hasn't it already been obvious to you? Only the short term traders ever made it big and appeared in the news: Jesse Livermore, CIS, Takashi Kotegawa, etc. Warren Buffett is probably the only long term trader I know. But is this what you really want to do, spend 30 years or more...

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

News for you, Japan is not the safe utopia many disillusioned foreigners are lead to believe. Crazy shit happen in Japan just like anywhere else. Random people getting injured or mutilated for no apparent reasons (all 2015 news): Man hit with bottle in robbery attempt on Tokyo street Man...

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

Japan is no safe place. A while a go, a highschool girl got fatally stabbed over the $100 (Yen equivalent) in her purse. Could you imagine the consequence of walking around in Tokyo when everyone knew you were a multi-millionaire? You'd have not random robbers with knives but a whole mafia...

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

Fake story why? I guess Jesse Livermore must have faked it too when he made a billion dollars shorting the market the same way CIS did!

Japanese Day Trader Makes $34 million

Is this CIS the same guy who called himself BNF (Takashi Kotegawa) who made $20M on a fat finger Mizuho securities crash a while ago? BNF also made $150M from $10K in the course of 8 years.
