    Different Trading approach?

could you add some text jonnyy. I'm not sure if you support my approach or are against it. I see 469 trades with $1085 gain. To throw my approach at that, is to say that I would only have to make around 2-3 trades (with much larger share lots then the 500ish this chart appeared to average) to...

    Trader P/L 2005

In the sense that i can take that 500 gain and buy the same things as you, correct. But in trading I would say otherwise. If my 500 gain was from a million dollar+ bond gain and yours was from gambling all of your account at once, it is not. I know those are two extremes, but that is the...

    Different Trading approach?

this post is intended for opinions from scalpers; however, i welcome all comments so please distinguish if you are or are not primarily a scalper. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've read left and right that scalping can be strenuous, hard...

    Trader P/L 2005

i have been curious for some time now why traders aren't talking about results in percentages. Everything I have read says something along the lines of "the good/professional traders ALWAYS speak in terms of percentages"...I think you should always speak in percentage (perhaps with the addition...

    2006 Goals

I am currently (and will be for a while) a very short intradayer...looking at 1min charts...holding for 2minutes - 2hours....so I use around 90-95% of account per trade (usually only have one trade open at a time). So if you want to say I risk that much, then sure, but i find it very hard to...

    rookie looking for help

sounds like people need this zero-sum thing cleared up. In THEORY, the market is a zero sum game. Because all theories have an actual begining and ending. So when the stock market began, and people began placing their money in the stock market (the begining), they are in fact entering a...

    taking the money and running

I have learned that savings in an IRA (traditional and/or Roth) are "untouchable" by the government. By untouchable, I mean if you are sued or file bankruptcy that the money deposited in your IRA cannot be removed. I am not sure how deep this goes... and i'm not quite sure how you would...

Trader portfolio returns vs. Hedge fund portfolio returns

i agree with many of the others...the comparision is not so easy. However, for ths sake of argument, lets say they are comparable. Now that 5.9% is the average of the whole world of (registered) hedge funds. Now lets think of an average for only the profitable ones...i'd guess around 20%...

    Average Up Day

    taking the money and running

sad, but true:( if i had to comment, i would agree with the 25k,25k,75k "plan" if you will. Then again, if you are leaving my assumption is that you can't trade profitably.

    Short 500 AAPL at $75

quite a thread...which is exactly why i don't trade large stocks on a strong trend like this (short term). Everyone is going every which way with their picks and reasonings that it just muddles the entire picture. Just because its "the hottest" stock doesn't mean I can't make similar or better...

Which is your style, Follow or Counter the trend

the shorter your trading time frame, the more often you should follow the trend and vice a versa. i don't try to anticipate a trend change in intra-day....just wait for one to begin and hop on board.
