    Velocity Futures

I've read many good things about Velocity Futures and would like to hear from traders that either have or had an account with them. How would you characterize your experience with them? One feature I need is the ability to enter orders through a web browser. I understand that Velocity Futures...

    Go futures

After several years on the sidelines, I'm getting back into trading futures. I'm a swing trader and was looking for 3 main things in a broker 1) ability to enter orders through a web browser 2) competitive commissions and 3) front end software to enter orders as an alternative to using a web...

    Antivirus advice urgently needed....

On my trading computer I don't go to questionable websites (i.e. pr0n or warez, etc). I don't use real-time virus protection because I think it slows the computer down too much. Instead, periodically, I will scan with http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ So far, no viruses. I use Ad-aware...

I want to tell traders what "edge" disclosure can and can't do

From the original turtle trading rules: "The most important aspects of successful trading are confidence, consistency, and discipline. Rules that you can't or won't follow will not do you any good." If you posted your edge on ET most readers wouldn't have the confidence to follow your trading...

    Is Firefox browser any good.

IE 7 is a lot better than IE 6. That said, I use Firefox most of the time but still have IE 7 on the machine for websites that like it better. I'm using Windows XP Pro with SP2.

    Airline stocks

With DAL at $6.80 and NWA shareholders getting 1.25 shares of DAL in the merger deal that would currently mean $8.50 worth of DAL. Since NWA is only at $7.47 there is about $1.03 in the spread. Buy 1 NWA and short 1.25 shares of DAL. If you don't want to play the spread, just go long NWA when...

The Problem with Hybrids: Chevy Tahoe - $55k

Look at a used hybrid. That what you can get the fuel savings and you won't have to pay the new car markup. Check out www.edmunds.com for the value of the used car you are interested in.

Life is good for NYC landlords

The numbers for NYC look different depending on the area included. NYC numbers that include all 5 boroughs have lower numbers because the other 4 boroughs are cheaper to live in than Manhattan. Look here http://www.corcoran.com/ If you think those prices are cheap, then more power to you. But...

    Playskool My First Trading System

When you step up your size from 1 contract to 2 do you take a position of 2 contracts straight or do you take a position of 1 and then add to the position later?

    From SEC, RE: Uptick Rule

When the uptick rule was in place some market participants could sell equities on a downtick or downbid , (i.e. specialist, market maker or hedge fund/institutional investor by putting up a "bullet"). However, individual investors couldn't sell short on a downtick/downbid. So individual...

    Windows XP REALLY slow

Recommendations to speed up your computer: 1) Turn off System Restore 2) If you have real-time Anti-Virus scanning software, turn off the realtime scan feature or better yet, uninstall it and just use a free online scan when you need it like http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ 3) Use...

Actual Stop Orders VS Stop Alerts

I think it depends on the spread of a particular market. If the spread is small and your position is small relative to that market, just use an Actual Stop. But if the spread of a particular market is big you may want to use an alert and then use limit orders to get out of your position.

Actual Stop Orders VS Stop Alerts

Traditionally, I've preferred to use Stop Alerts when stop levels are reached. Upon receiving an alert, I would manually enter a limit order to get out of my position, changing my limit price if needed until I got out of my position. However, the ES seems to trade so liquidly and with an...

    Bought 100 June ES 1371.00

Looks like you set the stop in the right place. Low was 1358.50 today, so you didn't get stopped out today on 1/2 your position.

    How to enforce discipline

I traded stock index futures from 1994-1997 on a discretionary seat-of-the pants basis. I did not have any money management principles in place and I allowed a small loss to turn into a huge loss and blow up my account. After being out of the market for several years, I decided that if I were to...

Maximum ES contracts you would trade with $3,800 account

I think the point many of the replies are trying to make is that just because the broker offers to let you use a high leverage ratio doesn't mean that it's prudent to leverage yourself that high. With a $3800 account, taking a one-lot position in the ES would mean you are levered about 18 to 1...

Recommended Broker for eMini S&P 500 Futures

IB is, without a doubt, the most discussed broker on ET and the $4.70 round turn all-in rate for ES futures that they quoted me was certainly competitive. But I had a few reservations about using them as my Futures Broker. First, I think it's difficult for a broker to service both equity traders...
