How to roll a contract over?

You will always pay two commissions (no way around that) but his point was IB has no per ticket charge, only a fee per contract, so if you roll out 10 calls (buy 10 to close sell 10 to open for example) you pay commission for 20 contracts, the same as if you just bought 20 calls in one order...

    Buying @ bid - possible?

agreed. add: 7. I am a scalper in a very liquid option and I plan on flipping it to the ask as soon as I am filled. (they are trying to crack down on this though).

    Buying @ bid - possible?

put simply, yes. You can step ahead of the MM, but not other customer orders, if there are any at that price. There is a size just like on listed stocks. First come, first serve. And of course, some one else needs to hit that bid. No MM is going to fill you at his own bid just out of the...

Update on my experiences with WorldCo

And there you have it, the ever elusive "catch" I knew I could count on you Don :D The extra you pay in commissions might be more than you would lose if you went somewhere else with 10k or 25k and lost it (all or some). I guess it depends on how active you are.

Update on my experiences with WorldCo

My point exactly! Well actually my point is why have I been risking my own capital for the last 10 years, lol! I coulda been losing theirs, let them pay my "tuition." ;) All kidding aside, I know that losing someone elses money probably wouldn't teach you as much, or possibily anything at...

Update on my experiences with WorldCo

"All of this without having to put down any capital." I don't get it, with places like this around, why risk your own capital? I must be missing something here, what's the catch? You risk 0% of your own money, and they take all the market risk? Sounds too good to be true...

What happens when you reveal your true identity?

lol, yup. I have tried, unsuccesfully, for many years, to explain shorting to my father. I have given up. I don't know what it is, but some people just don't get it, it doesn't click, and it has nothing to do with intelligence (he is a physicist and a chemist).

What happens when you reveal your true identity?

tell them you work for the IRS. That's always popular. Then tell them they work for the IRS, too! We all do! If that doesn't cause smoke between their ears, then the hamster must be dead, so who cares.

What happens when you reveal your true identity?

Not necessarily bad (besides them pumping your for tips, or quizzing you on every stock they can think of, both of which can get annoying, especially the tips and "inside info" they are usually after), but honestly what I have seen happen is it just takes too long to explain what I do to the...

Can Day Traders make a good living.

If you hung out in a room full of lottery winners, and could not see outside the room, you would probably conclude that its very easy to win the lottery. Remember, nobody comes here to brag about losing their life savings. You only hear the successes.

    SEC fee changes

The fee is a penny per $300. Sells only. It was that rate for a long time, although I didn't know it dropped recently, only to go back up in April!

what to do when you know how to make money...

OK gg, you want some advice, here is mine: 1. Lose the campy nickname. It makes you appear young and foolish. And as you have already confirmed, half of that (perhaps unwarrented) assumption is true (eg, your age). I wonder if people would have been so hard on you if your alias was...

Will single stock futures replace stocks?

I think some people are looking too much at SSFs from a "daytrading only" perspective. As darkhouse pointed out, there is a huge advantage of leverage if you hold overnight (yes some people do!), 20% vs 50%. I also agree that some people may not be putting enough weight on the fact that you...

    Matrox 200G Problem

You can't just copy an OS from 1 pc to another. We should acknowledge the fact that number 1, its illegal, but in addition, it wouldn't even work. Different hardware in your desktop will require different drivers and IRQs from your laptop. You would need to do a fresh install with an...

20% per year with as little risk/work as possible?

thanks, those are great :) here is a little thing I wrote about 2 years ago under the title, which I am sure you have heard before, "Lies, damn lies, and statistics" This was when powerball fever was running rampant and nobody would shut up about it. Also, these stats have not been...
