    Commercialization

In general, I can deal with the ads (someone's got to pay the bills, after all). I do, however, question the propriety of allowing links that lead to pop-ups, traps, and dialog boxes.

    Jeff Putnam

The Putnam thing (beatingthetrend.com) pops up when you click the Pierce link. Not a big deal except when you try to close it and are faced with several more pop-ups plus a dialog box....PITA

Dojis......do they resemble basenjis, by any chance? I'm partial to Newfies, myself, but I doubt one will ever win best in show.:D

    Beating Buy and Hold

I recall running through something similar last year and compiled the list. However, I just located the link I used for that purpose. It begins with the original 12 and ends with the 30 as of 1999: http://www.usatoday.com/2000/century/money/004.htm

    Get a Life!!

I don't know about any of this. I mean, using the criteria set forth, my average would indicate I'm directly between "fairly stable" and "borderline", yet I'm reasonably certain that I'm all f'd up!

    Beating Buy and Hold

Just in the FWIW department, the following is a list of companies that were in the DJ30 near the end of 1928: Allied Chemical & Dye (Allied Signal ---> merged with Honeywell) American Can (Primerica ---> acquired by Citigroup) American Smelting (Asarco ---> acquired by Grupo Mexico)...

Fear not! You are perfectly well-adjusted. That is, of course, assuming you're sitting in that small, dark office fully clothed.

    Company Trading

MTM accounting transforms cap gains/losses into ordinary income/losses regardless of form (e.g. sole proprietorship, LLC, S-Corp, LP), AFAIK. Also, again AFAIK, a legal entity can elect MTM accounting as soon as it is formed (i.e. it is not limited to the 1/1-4/15 window period).

    emini daytrading trainer wanted

I know quite a few "traders" who would disagree with that statement, definitionally.

Then stick with it, by all means! If you're breaking even after only one week, you're doing fairly well, IMHO. A lot of beginning floor traders, initially, don't shoot for kills; they just try to scratch.

    Beating Buy and Hold

First, you explicitly added inflation to the matrix. Second, you implicity added taxes since bonds generate current income (as opposed to cap gains where taxes can be, at least, deferred). Simply put, only stocks have outpaced both inflation and taxes over the past 75+ years. Debt...

    Beating Buy and Hold

I would tend to agree but consider the case of an investor who, at age 30, dumps some cash into an index fund (mutual or ETF, whatever) and continues to add, on a yearly (or perhaps quarterly or monthly) basis, roughly the same (inflation-adjusted) amount to the original investment. At age 65...

As would I. However, I have to wonder how significant that is considering the vast majority can't seem to beat the relevant benchmark.

    Help With Virus Please

I also use NAV. My understanding is that if you don't need the quarantined file, you can simply delete it. The fact that the file was quarantined indicates that NAV was unable to repair it. Quarantine prevents the file from spreading and damaging your computer and allows users to send the file...

Quite true! As one of my old profs used to say, "what you =know= can hurt you".
