Why did trend following work well in commodities in 1970s but lost effectiveness later?

I guess the reason is that trend following got harder to trade after the 1970s. This is why even the Father of the Turtles faltered even though some of his Turtles continued to do well. You would have done well if you were one of his Turtles.

Why did trend following work well in commodities in 1970s but lost effectiveness later?

Richard Dennis made lots of money with trend following in the 1970s. He did not do well later when trend following seem to lost its effectiveness later on. Why did trend following fail to work as well in the past few decades?

How does one know if he is ready for full-time investing/trading?

What are the signs to look out for to know one is ready? Conversely and perhaps more importanly, what are the signs to look out for to know one NOT is ready? I would like to hear from those who have been there, done that and most probably wiser.

Interactive Brokers - is Llyod's insurance of 150m enough?

Does IBKR have a trading desk that engages in proprietary trading? This makes me nervous. I guess if financial crisis hits, one solution would be to simply buy money-market ETF or short-term bond ETF which are almost as good as cash. Seems like securities are easier to recover and lower risk...

Interactive Brokers - is Llyod's insurance of 150m enough?

One thing good about Interactive Brokers is that it is extra insurance on top of SIPC coverage of 500k. However, this extra insurance is only up to an extra 150m (See link at bottom). Given that IBKR is such a large broker, can the extra 150m be enough to cover all its clients? A few hedge funds...
