    Pure IV Play

What are the purest IV plays possible? Looking to eliminate as much delta, and theta as possible and focus on whether or not IV falls or rises as the primary source of P/L. Thoughts?

    VXX put options

Interactive brokers is not showing options as available on VXX after the split. How long does it take for the options to show back up after a reverse split like this?

    vxx reverse split

The reason I care about the reverse split is simply to help facilitate my method of option trading. With these low prices it makes it hard to even go 1 strike away from the current price and receive any premium. A higher price, will give me more strikes (with more than .05 premium) to choose...

    vxx reverse split

It looks like generally when VXX gets around 13, historically they have had a reverse split. VXX is now about 11. Any reason why this time they are holding off?

    Making Money is Easy

While I can't specifically speak for theta decay over the weekend. What I can say, as it relates to my strategy, is that when I first enter the position on Friday I am generally down about -$500 instantly. This is due to slippage on the spread and commissions. By mid day Monday the position is...

    Making Money is Easy

While it does take advantage of theta, theta is not the primary component by which it gains in value. In fact, its more of a "bonus"

    Making Money is Easy

No, what I am calling the "miss-pricing" is a temporary abnormality.

    Making Money is Easy

The strategy is held over the weekend because it benefits from theta decay. As my profits continue to grow (and I get a bigger cushion of gains) I will keep scaling up until my full account size is reflected. This week is my biggest size yet. I tend to believe what I am seeing is a temporary...

    Making Money is Easy

After 10 years in trading and analyzing the markets, a light bulb moment finally clicked. This game is much easier than I ever imagined. I have come up with a very simple strategy which I execute each Friday afternoon - takes less than 20 minutes. It appears I will make in the neighborhood of...

BAC Puts brought how to get out of it.

Your not going to salvage the $45 (especially after commissions). Let it expire.

    What am I not seeing?

Without seeing the options your looking at, hard to give an answer. Can you post the options you are looking at. Are all sold and purchased options the same expiry?

    Comissions problem

I currently use Interactive Brokers. Every Friday I place a trade which currently consists of buying 75 combos. Each combo has 3 legs, 2 buys and 1 sell. The order is placed as a combo order. The commission on these 75 combos came out to $221 today. Basically there are 3 options traded for each...

    Best stocks for options trading

for my strategy to work I need highly liquid options with tight spreads. Currently I trade only on Apple and spy for this reason. What other stocks have options with similar liquidity and spreads?

    Can't lose opportunity

The LINE bonds I bought are up about 2.5x what I paid for them, however when I went to close them today I get an error on Interactive Brokers, wont let me perform the trade. However, I see bid/asks changing and trades taking place. Any idea what it could be? Gives some non standard redemption error.

    Can't lose opportunity

Thanks for all the input. After looking at the different options, instead of trying to finance the cost of the bond by shorting the underlying, I decided to just buy 20k worth of bonds. I have roughly $800 at risk and can use it as a learning experience to see how things play out. If the company...

    Can't lose opportunity

The assumption would be for the stock price to have recovered to $1 or $5, that the the company would have received some sort of lifeline which makes bankruptcy no longer an immediate concern. In that scenario, the bonds should appreciate significantly. As far as them being at par, I suppose...

    Can't lose opportunity

20,000 (which is what I used in above example) would yield $8,200 credit. Slightly less than I projected, but still more than enough to perform the trade as outlined, just end up buying slightly less call options than the 700 mentioned above. I am not too concerned about the shorting, and...

    Can't lose opportunity

I have traded options, futures, stocks etc for the better part of the last 15 years. However, I have zero bonds experience. I believe the drop in oil prices has created a "once in a lifetime" opportunity, but I want to make sure I am not overlooking something basic to the bond market. For...
