    Japanese Market

Historically, the markets have catered to institutions primarily up until recently and have not even reached out to the Japanese individuals except for in the last few years. Thus, there has really been no reason to even think about customers from abroad. Stocks in the past were more available...

    Japanese Market

I live and work in Tokyo (been here for over 8 years) and can confirm that it would be a difficult project to trade (especially daytrade) stocks on any of the Japan exchanges. There are a lot of eccentricities in all of the components (e.g., language, deficiencies at the exchanges themselves...

IB Great at catching erroneous trades

Actually, it appears that you are the one that does not "get it". You should really take the time to read Alan's post. There could be several more choices but I would suspect the most compelling choice is customer preference (traders who utilize IB and require speed in execution.) Your...

    IB simulation

Yes, I have seen it but have not signed up yet. At least for individual accounts, if you login to your account management page and there is an option for "Paper Trading" under the Trading Access menu (the last option there).

Limit and stop orders at IB

Again, which exchange (CME or eCBot)? As Businessman said, if you go to the IB website and look under Products/Futures you will find the detail information as to which orders are allowed and whether they are native or simulated. If all else fails, read the instructions.

Equivalents of $TRIN and $TICK in Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchanges

That's a little difficult to answer since I haven't traded the ES in a long time but in general, they work the same in following market sentiment or in using the TICK for divergences. The real issue would be any differences between ES and the Japan products. Again, I follow the TOPX futures...

    Online industry charts

I am sure that there are many but one You could try is StockCharts.com. Look at there Market Summary page and see if there is anything there. The listing is probably fairly broad for industries but you could also check the symbol catalog if there are others.

Equivalents of $TRIN and $TICK in Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchanges

I trade the TOPIX futures on occasion and have looked at the information at both exchanges but I have not come accross any similar information outside of IB. IB does provide an internal calculation for TICK & TRIN for the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TICK-TSEJ & TRIN-TSEJ). There may be some local...

IB to trade, and data feed....Esign for charts....any try it?

I also used to use eSignal and was very pleased but could not justify the price. I did switch to Ensign around February of this year using IB as the real-time data feed. You could use DTN for backfill and the setup was good but not as good as eSignal but considering the price difference, it...

Ensign why do some pro's like it?

Thanks, Bsulli! That was very helpful. I don't normally use tick charts but was a little concerned about using the IB data for intraday charts. Although I love eSignal and my setup now, the more I look at Ensign together with IB is making me wonder more about the price differential.

Ensign why do some pro's like it?

It is my understanding that you are provided with backfill as part of the Ensign subscription (IB provides just the current real time data). I know the backfill includes intraday data but I am not sure if it gets down to the tick level (I don't use tick charts). I use eSignal but tried the...
