How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

dustin buys options. He is implicitly making long gamma bets but has shown (at least in his journal) that he’s good at finding stocks that are moving enough to pay for the decay.

How to short the S&P using options? Day & swing puts

not worth it for what you do. you pay wider bid/offer won’t monetize the gamma/theta/Vega and will get less delta exposure. and you will be trading bigger size than you are accustomed to.

when it comes to learning a skill, like wood working I agree. But that doesn’t apply to learning abstract things. I actually spend most of my time reading management science books. Some are great, some are okay. But I’ve learned something from everyone of them that I have read.

Safest way to make 1% per month

in a strictly up market, the TQQQ will perform better. in a strictly down market the TQQQ will perform worse. In a sideways market the TQQQ will perform worse than the QQQ. This has to do with downdrift component in returns. So there will be periods that the TQQQ will do a lot better than the...

Safest way to make 1% per month

It was believed that madoff had the magic touch in his stock selection. He was buying a basket of stocks he thought would perform and then buying the collars. I interviewed with a very seasoned prop guy (from around your and taowaves time) who thought very highly of madoff in 2007.

agreed on a journal. I keep two sets of diaries: an emotional one and a rational one. While I rarely go back and reread the entries I find just getting the thoughts on paper allow me to get past the first level of thought and come to a better conclusion on my next course of action. But everyone...

What Options book are you currently reading?

agreed. All the good traders at banks and hedge funds don’t EVER read any trading books. Most of them don’t even go to college or high school because education is for eggheads who don’t know how to take risk. You and I get this. Because we don’t understand Venn diagrams. That’s why we are...

You can't lose reading an options book if you want to be an options trader. Almost all of them will have something you can synthesize into your current knowledge base. When I started I read Hull and did all the math problems in it. It took me about 2 weeks while also working on a some stat arb...

Traders who have C-Corp, how do you handle accumulated earning tax (AET)?

In my manufacturing firm this comes up from time to time (as I don’t take dividends). It becomes an issue when you are audited. You can try to make the argument that you are reinvesting the gains in the business and that will often fly. Otherwise you might have to take the div and immediately...
