    CL Redux

Just got back from dinner, stopped out. If actively managing the trade, would NOT have moved stop to b/e per my rules, but would've flipped long @ 83.74 and would still be in the trade. Damn!

Grinding it out, day after day

Lescor's and Geez' threads are very different, yet together demonstrate the necessary tool for ongoing success: A trader's mindset.

Millions to lose Unemployment benefits over the next month!!!!!!!

The form of government currently in control of the U.S. is a plutocracy. Plutocracy: noun \plü-tä-krə-sē\ 1: government by the wealthy 2: a controlling class of the wealthy http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html The wealthiest in this country own...

    What is a trader's job?

I'm actually a very spiritual person and trading has made me all the more spiritual, allowing me to share my spirituality with the world, thereby making it a better place. My new car's license plate says DOWIST. I practice Dowism. :p

    What is a trader's job?

Possibly not the ideal job, but likely fun while it lasts... http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/01/business/global/01oil.html

    ADD/ADHD traders

This is huge help, as well as green tea. Also, I have an exercise ball that I use for a chair when I start to lose focus.

Discussion: The problems with trader training services are...

If an individual were to require a significant sum of money to train/mentor me, I would want to see them in action trading live for a decent period of time. The question to ask would be why would a highly successful trader want the distraction of training others? There are subscription-based...

Art, if you weren't in and out so fast off those tick charts, you could have it all. :D

    Birth of a trader

Yes, I found one of these, too, at a particular time of day, after ending up on the wrong side of it a few times. We're taught throughout life to stand up and fight for what we believe is right. In trading, however, when you come across something that's "not right", you're better off leaving...

    Birth of a trader

I couldn't have said it any better! Counter-trend my stop goes to b/e +1 rather quickly and I often place a hard target as well knowing that rabid trend-followers are just waiting to pounce on a trend line entry zone. I'll then gladly join the rabid trend-followers once the price action...

Discussion: The problems with trader training services are...

I viewed a lot of free trading webinars/DVDs all of which presented basic concepts (very valuable ones) that work in all time frames and all markets. I also had a very experienced trader constantly explaining basic trading concepts to me. I understood these concepts, yet I doubted them somehow...

    My Thanksgiving

Yes, focus and patience and confidence, the Holy Grail! I'm happy to have paid it forward to you. I was never one to want to mirror someone else's trades, but Bighog was so certain in his knowledge I was sometimes tempted to ask if he would just tell me exactly what to do. He seemed to have...

Why do folks only get behind stocks after they have made big runs?

No intention to discredit what you're getting at in your post, but there's contradictory info here. You seem to be referring to "the crowd" in a way that makes me think you mean "the ET crowd". The fund managers (including the weaker ones who will jump in late on any move), ARE the crowd. That's...

    Testing a new strategy

To simply post an entry price signal isn't time-consuming or disruptive. 6E is the other instrument I trade and it trades very cleanly and calmly, IMHO. I've one other question: I'm assuming the system signals an entry price (or at least an entry price zone, give or take a few ticks). Does...

    Testing a new strategy

It takes about 5 seconds to post a trade here. I used to post calls for CL trades, which is pretty volatile to say the least. I've never seen nor traded TF, so maybe it moves too fast to post a trade signal. Good luck with your trading!

    Testing a new strategy

How about just a couple days of real-time calls that the system signals?

    Birth of a trader

I always move my stop to b/e after 20 ticks. There's no way I could let a 20-tick winner turn into a loser. After 30 ticks I usually begin to trail a stop and may move the stop to lock in 20 ticks minimum profit in certain circumstances. There's often a discretionary point where I'll just take...

    Birth of a trader

I have to agree. When I put on the trade, I've accepted the cost of admission and unless the trade was speculative in the first place, such as a counter-trend or pure momentum play, I think it's best to leave that initial stop in place until price gets somewhere in the vicinity of the profit...
