Now who's mean! :p
Technically it was a very good day in CL for my trading style, nice clean swings in both directions. I had 6 longs and 7 shorts, 5 wins, 2 losses and, of course, 6 b/e, thanks to Picaso's bad influences on me.
Since a swing trade means a longer period of exposure to the market and a stop loss that's wider than a day trade, position size should be smaller than a day trade.
Protective stops should be placed in a price zone that would invalidate your reason for the trade, no matter what time frame...
I've been drawing channel lines in choppy action a lot lately and protecting myself from bad entries that look sensible in more volatile price action.
Draw the channel lines as price stepped downward from 1:50pm ET high and you'll see that 1235.25 was the buy zone and 1237.25 the sell zone...
Since this is a journal, yet contains no wins or losses that I can see (no charts or trade blotters indicating the OP's entries and exits), I'll help fulfill the "anything else" criterion for this journal by recommending that ddav buy/sell at the first signal that appears and close the position...
Great thread idea! I began exploring some trading strategies in May and not long after began doing a detailed post-market analysis of the day's action to determine how many valid setups occurred, how much initial profit/heat on the trade was shown, and the likely result of each trade based on my...
Hi Puddles! Haven't looked at your thread for a while, but just checked in and this X trade from yesterday caught my eye. The setup on that chart usually results in a measured move from the last breakout. Since the breakout from the 54.40 zone to the 55.00 zone was .60, assume a breakout of the...
Since the system provides buy and sell signals pretty much to the tick of pivots, I'm assuming ddav would hold each long position until a sell arrow appears, and vice versa. Is that correct? Since there've been no losses in all these weeks, and no stops are necessary, it makes sense that any...
The best way to be clear is to post the signal (buy/sell) at the time you get the signal in real time, which you keep claiming happens. You use the phrase "real time" a lot, yet seem incapable of typing "buy TF" or "sell TF" at the time the signal appears.
In the spirit of keeping our focus and concentration at its highest level, we booted everyone from the institution...uh, I mean institute except some crazy guy who thinks I'm holding pork bellies in my freezer :p
If you post a chart of your trades here, I'm sure you'll get lots of good feedback!
What he said!
To trail or not to trail:
What I do, is when price is very close to my profit target zone, and I have reason to believe the market may have more to offer (such as price is running hard toward target and has had very shallow retraces), I may choose to trail a stop and try to...
I occasionally trade more than 1 lot. As for when I decide to trade multiple lots on every trade, as my Mom once told me regarding how to identify "true love":
"You'll just know."
You stopped me cold with the word "reefering" which I realize is risky and uncertain, much like certain Latin roots.
I haven't traded POT for months and I'm possibly suffering with drawl.
In a bar, you might find me accompanied or unaccompanied, and I care not how I look, as long as I'm...
