    Secondary Job Ideas While Trading

I don't know why someone would want to give up a salary when you can trade the same while working. Where I work everyone trades their PA during the day, some folks have a whole monitor setup to watch this. Someone is always watching TV, checking news items, economic releases etc, and we feed...

time for more short term selling

Speaking of calling tops and bottoms. I remember a lot of chatter in 2006 and early 2007 about the impending subprime correction. Then everyone said the late-Feb early-March 2007 "correction" fixed everything... These things take a while to play out.

    Japan Spirals into Bankruptcy?

Yes they have been on the tightrope for the past 20 years. I read some interesting articles over past few months where people think the tipping point comes soon. These are the highlights from what I remember: Pension Funds will have to be net sellers of JGBs for first time just to make...

    C a buy?

Why don't you try deciphering their financial statements. Looking at their balance sheet is like looking at one of those Magic-eye pictures. Deferred tax asset writedown of 10B in Q4? Yeah, this company screams buy... lol

    Making 1%/week selling covered calls

My advice to you is to take your plan which seems to have been given less than 1 minute of thought and add an extra 5 minutes to think about the ramifications. At 1% a week that is just about 68% anualized (compounded weekly for 52 weeks) At this point you should have 1) done some quick...

Marc Faber, Dollar Will Eventually Go to Value of Zero, Oct 26, 2009

Well I am not too familiar with ETF's, so I am wondering what requires an ETF to be rolled? i.e. Do they have maturities?

Ok well when you roll vs going out one more contract farther, you pay a 'round-trip'. So 2*commission is the difference. I never follow gold, so I'll use an example I am more familiar with: TYZ9. Say you short this b/c it's front vs TYH9. You'd pay 2 more commission's to short and buy...

European commission forces 'too big to fail' banks to be broken up.

I am so glad, I hope US follows suit. Bail outs are/were absolutely the wrong thing to do. They could easily enforce anti-trust laws to break these companies up...no need for new legislation just active enforcement. Nobody can whine and say this is necessary, because if 'Ma Bell had to be...

It's always best to trade as close to Front as possible. You get the best price discovery. Rolling is very cheap compared to the price discovery you lose by going farther out. My firm has permanent positions and we always trade front and roll as market rolls.

Why can't I get a job? Recent Grad, 3.7 GPA, Good Exp, Year and a half of searching..

Trader666, there is no reasoning with these people, you just have to look at their comments and laugh. This is the same crowd that is saying how tough it is to get a job. When you think about both of those points together it's not hard to see why they are having such a hard time.

Yeah I mean something doesn't add up with the thread poster...because I went to a top engineering school as well, I didn't have problems finding employment in 2008. I knew some real idiots in my class who landed great jobs as well. If he is in fact telling the truth, then his career center...

This map doesn't prove much beyond the statistic. What meangingful conclusions do you wish to draw...how unsafe the US is? Oh yeah that's right let's move to Yemen, Oman, Pakistan, and Somalia which have a lower %....real safe.... ....Couldn't resist after this map was posted.
