How to handle dividends in SPY

ETF's do not perfectly match the index. You are probably using the last trade of the day for SPY, which probably is not exactly trading at it's NAV. Also, you can't buy or sell the SPX, so why are you doing this?

How to handle dividends in SPY

SPX ignores dividends. SPY, if you're long you get paid dividends. SPY, if you're short, you pay margin interest and pay dividends. If you look at a price chart, SPY has been just about spot on for that time- I don't know what tests you're doing.

How to handle dividends in SPY

the .spx is only concerned about stock prices. No adjustment is made for dividends paid. The SPY tries to track the .spx- but actually does earn the dividends, and it pays them out. So if you bought SPY and you didn't reinvest dividends, your SPY holdings should track the .spx pretty closely.

limitted float, and people want to own it- for good reason. I would make a strong bet that Netflix's earnings 1, 3, and 5 years from now will be higher than they ever have been. However, maybe it's overpriced. On the other side, people said AAPL's stock was overpriced in the 80's, and the...

    Wal-mart

Walmart buys back it's own stock pretty regularly- Walmart is a mature phase company who uses its ample free cash flow to repurchase shares- this only bodes well for owners. The only way that walmart could start getting hurt as a business is if its sales declined... and based on the influx and...

    Physical ETFs?

well, the etf fluctuates a lot because gold fluctuates a lot. If the etf gets priced too high or too low, people(with billions in investable assets) will sell their gold to SPDR trust for GLD shares, making a profit. ETFs are so popular because they efficiently deal with supply and demand...

    Physical ETFs?

Nope, the amount of actual gold that the trust owns, and the amount attributable to each share- is very consistent. A shareowner has indirect ownership of physical gold, minus an expense ratio that gets taken out. SPDR Gold Trust (the Trust), formerly StreetTRACKS Gold Trust, is an...

    BP Oil Spill

Well, if you ask me, there's little chance that this $191billion market cap (a few months ago) company will be put out for what's happening. They do $245billion dollars a year in sales. Sure, this looks bad, and the market doesn't like it. But I am bullish on BP. Also, I suspect the bottom...
