Well, if he was looking at real estate property, we're talking about -10% a year. His point is valid whether the deflation rate is 1%, 2%, or 4%. The fed is pumping cash into the economy, but that can't last too long. It's going to get ugly.

well- if 30 year interest rates drop to 0%, will that be enough to prop up the housing market and get consumers spending again? Will it be enough to prevent people with underwater mortgages to avoid bankruptcy?

It's nice when you can cancel out $172 billion in debt and stop making payments on those- it makes your company look like it may do well, just long enough for your IPO. Then, once all the shares are sold, the shares can continue their downward slide even further.

great post. to answer your one question- the Fed said they will be buying treasuries to inject cash into the economy to help fuel the "economic recovery". Someone needs to tell the fed that their interest in the U.S. dollar is a poor investment.

It looks like the great news you mentioned is already priced in- would have been nice to buy 2 months ago before it went up 100%.

Anybody think we might see some recovery today? The value's out there and fear of inflation may begin to sink in. If I had to guess, I'd say SP 500 closes at 1100.
