    2002 is about over

Day trading about 3 1/2 months, up about 6k. Lots of learning. On a sidenote, those not marked to market and dealing with wash rules, read below. You can avoid the mess... Look at the section on "Burning Bridges". Wash Sales Under the wash sale rules, if you sell stock for a loss and...

    Quotetracker Question

Jerry, I found out it is a problem on IB's side. A server I'm on that's not updated yet. Volume did not show up in TWS either. Thx.

    Quotetracker Question

I have 3.0.1, no volume with the feed. I sent an email to QT to try and figure it out.

    Quotetracker Question

I've noticed that IB's feed does not include volume in QuoteTracker. Any idea why this is? Scottrade has volume per trade included in the feed.

Are IB MKT orders as fast as LMT orders?

Does anyone have experience with execution times of Market vs. Limit orders?

    Good Points about IB

I would add that if trading small price shares and large share quantities, IB might not be the cheapest. I'm maintaining a separate brokerage account that has a flat commish regardless of share amounts for this type of trading.

Make your pay and end for the day?

Just curious if some of you traders have a daily profit target that once hit, allows you to close shop for the day and pursue other interests. I don't currently, but am thinking about it. I was up yesterday and made a late day trade and lost all profits plus some. The amount I had for the...

    What are these IB fees?

From the website below: . . . USD 0.003/Share Additional fee for API equity directed orders. USD 0.12/Cancelled Order For API equity directed order cancellations. USD .24 credit against cancellation charges given for each API equity directed order execution. . . . I...

    IB TWS buy question

My experience with previous brokers is that limit orders get much faster execution than market orders. I don't know if this is the case with IB or not since I just opened the account and have not traded yet.

    IB TWS buy question

That sounds like the ticket. Thx, I'll have a look at that.

    IB TWS buy question

Is there any way to set an offset on the limit price based off the current ask/bid price? In other words, if the stock is trading 25x25.10, can I enter an offset ahead of time to place the buy at 25.25 (or +.15) for example? The reason I'd like to do this is to QUICKLY get the trade...

Concurrent long and short same security?

I do the majority of my trades intraday, after support/resistance and stochs have been set up. I try to get in on intraday trend reversal, make a little bit and then get out. All positions are closed by end of day. Because of this, I have no exposure to market open trends. What I was...

Concurrent long and short same security?

I was just pondering some potential hedging strategies, and wondered if one can hold the same security long and short in the same account at the same time. I realize that this doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface, but I'm really just curious if this can be done or if there are some...

Real time charting with IB TWS?

FWIW, QuoteTracker gives them a thumbs up for the data feed. I use this tool for charting, currently with Scottrade. Scottrade has seriously clusterflubbed a sytem conversion and I'm looking for another broker than interfaces with QT. http://quotetracker.com/qsources.shtml

Real time charting with IB TWS?

Thanks for the info. How is their Level 2 feed?

Real time charting with IB TWS?

I looked through the IB TWS materials, and can't seem to find a real time chart feature. Did I miss something, or is the package lacking this? I think I can feed QuoteTracker with IB's streaming, but it seems strange that there is no native charting in IB.

Prolly a dumb question about LIMIT orders

From what I gather here, LIMITS are safe and can aid speed in a liquid stock. Thin stocks and you just might get stuck with a limit buy or sell which is outside of current bid/ask. I still wonder if a STOP used the same way would have the same execution speed. I'm guessing that it may not...

Prolly a dumb question about LIMIT orders

I've been and investor for quite a while, a trader for a short time. I have found that MARKET executions with my current broker (Scottrade) take a long time to execute, and have been using LIMIT orders for faster fills. I incorrectly thought that a LIMIT would become a MARKET order once...

    Cybertrader Conditionals

Does anyone know if any other DAB's have capability such as Cybertrader, where an order is placed only when set conditions are met? It seems nice to set stops without showing your hand, so to speak.
