    Sterling API Developer Thread

No worries, basic and avanced questions about the sterling API are all welcome. Do you have any programming experience? If you have some or are a very faster learner, I'd recommend downloading the examples off of Sterling's website. I especially reccommend getting both the Excel Basket...

    Sterling API Developer Thread

very interesting. I was poking around with my code today and I found something interesting that's undocumented but I have no idea what it does. STIQuote.Destroy and STIEvents.Destroy Anyone know or have a guess of what they do? - mnx

    Sterling API Developer Thread

I take it that all messages in the API use the same queue? Reason I ask is that I had a program running with queued up quotes and another program running which re-sent orders when cancels came in, but it wasn't re-sending any orders at all. (because I had oodles of backed up quotes at the...

    Sterling API Developer Thread

I'm using VB6 and a Core2Quad oc'ed to 3.4GHz... I can average over 6000 quote updates / second... I tried porting my app to VB.net 2008 at one point and couldn't even get quotes to work properly... I never figured it out and ended up sticking with VB6... - mnx

    Sterling API Developer Thread

Yeah I've seen similar problems to that, not the same but similar... It makes it pretty difficult to run more than one bot per PC/account... - mnx

Ok, so I googled UDT since I didn't know what it was... If you're reading this and are as uninformed as I am it's short for a User Defined Type. The question still remains though... How are the UDT Structs different from the STI...Msg Objects? (and what might be their advanatges?)

    Sterling API Developer Thread

I see that Anvil has a thread where traders and programmers a like can discuss the ins and outs of their API. I figure there must be as many people or more using Sterling Trader Pro and it's API so I figured I'd kick things off. I'll start with a question. What is the difference between...

    Remote Trading set-up

First you need a computer close to the exchange. You can either do this by renting space (server co-location) or just getting a dedicated machine maintained by the hosting company. Then you could just use windows remote desktop to access that machine. You can start by googling...

massive dde: core 2 quad or Xeon?

wow so many people who don't know quite what they are talking about... current xeon's are no different than the dual core and quad core consumer lines from intel, no extra cache, nothing. (except costing you more money) also dde works fine in xp-64, but there is no advantage afaik...

    Sterling Platform Performance

i find sterling to be decent. the biggest problems I have with it are limitations of their api. I've never really seen slow orders like many of you have mentioned unless my internet connection or the backbone between myself and sterling was having issues. I've had problems with cogent a...

trading with 2 quad xeon proccessors

sounds like overkill to me, but I've never opened 500 charts at once... ;) I suspect though that one of 2 things will happen... 1) E-signal is single threaded (assumption) and your extra 6-7 cores will make no difference. 2) Bandwidth will be a limiting factor... that's my 2 cents...
