whats the best stock screener you guys ever used !!!

This is exactly what I'm trying to research for as well. When I went to trade-ideas.com earlier (before seeing this post), it didn't seem too big on the idea of intraday scans. From reading on the site, it appeared to emphasize its post-market features (ie daily scanning, not intraday). I'll...

    intraday scans

good question and would be interested in hearing myself from someone.

If you had to do it all over again....

Kinda thought that would cause at least a bit of annoyance. :) I just meant maybe I at least wasn't grasping exactly what he was trying to convey. Hey, it's happened before! Will admit after reading what I have from him, there are elements that are pretty confusing.

or, maybe we (I, at least) are not following well enough.

If you had to do it all over again....

tireg, 'preciate your clarification on it. That's probably what I got out of it initially and then--true to my own nature--maybe analyzed myself right out of the KISS mentality. What you say echoes my own tendency, probably. A longtime trading friend told me that it's very difficult--at...

If you had to do it all over again....

Re: acrary's comments about strategic over tactical--been pondering this quite a bit lately. I guess I'm confused in that one would assume you'd first try to determine the direction or action--whether the trading vehicle is trending, countertrending, stagnating, etc--before determining a good...

Harry Dent and the Bubble Boom

Interesting, kiwi (and others), thanks. I was thinking the same thing about the 2005 levels, but couldn't recall the details. Is eye-opening that he expects a significant correction.

Harry Dent and the Bubble Boom

I read a good amount of his book and came away pretty impressed. In fact, I'd say the gist of his demographic analysis made me somewhat look for the bull moves more than reality probably dictated. Fortunately, I traded small recently when the market turned downward. For those who read the...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Thought of that after I posted. I'm dubious he meant tick data, but he might have. Thanks.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

I have to assume he meant from the daily, because inevitably isn't all trading based on OHLC on some timeframe?

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

kinda makes you wonder if there truly are ways of succeeding consistently, or is it more a matter of randomness in that some will succeed, some will lose money, and some will break even? I don't believe in the random walk theory, but there's some agony there lately.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Never mind. I was slow on the draw earlier. You contrasted 'em to indicators, so I can assume you're solely referring to the price and volume action without the need for the indicators.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

WmWaster, I look at various time frames on the OHLC/V spectrum, such as daily, hourly, half hourly, etc. Frankly, I'm not quite there yet, though I think I'm close. (as far as figuring a very effective trading plan) What are you referring to when you say "raw data"--tick-by-tick? 'preciate it!

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

WmWaster, I'm finding more and more leaning toward solely price and volume action, rather than incorporating indicators too. Maybe there's room for them to some degree, just not sure if they're necessary. Thanks for your reply, btw.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Not sure if acrary will return to this thread, but if anyone else can answer...I've been thinking about this and though I understand based on the example he provided, it seems hard to believe one can't discern certain repeatable patterns--at least to some significant degree--from the OHLC data...

    This "edge" stuff

I dunno 'bout that. While I haven't had the time--yet--to digest the details of some of the more extensive posts from him, there are a lot of folks very impressed with his methodology for determining advantages. Again, I am so new at some of these aspects, so time will only tell how well it...

    Predicting tomorrow’s trading range

I'd never personally trade off of something like that solely, but am open to considering any such analyses. Sometimes, they can be used effectively in conjunction with other, more precise strategies.

Thanks for the info. How do you define "short-term?"

    traders who are deeply religious

Absolutely! You cited the scripture and relayed it to the subject at hand very well, IMO.
